Very quaint and comfy little Library surrounded by trees. The bald guy at the desk was amazing- by helping me find doors for my daughter. . .and so patient too. There was a lady there for over an hour trying to get a library card but didn't have the proper identification. I honestly think she may have been homeless and just wanted to hang out in the air condition. Nevertheless he was so patient and dealing with her but I thought I would mention that. The only downside that it was really loud when I first got there. The lady at the front desk was having a very loud conversation, someone was sharpening their pencils very loudly in one area of the library and another person was sitting at the computers, having a very loud conversation on his cell phone while he was eating chips. I could not believe this because it was in the library. I will definitely be back but probably not to study because I didn't get much done today because of the noise.
The only reason this place does not deserve all five stars is the fact that it is rather small and can often get crowded if you ever just need to go and study. The wifi speed is really good for a public library, and the environment is surprisingly modern and up to date, which is a great contrast to the libraries you would expect to see nowadays with the budget cuts. Given that B&N near Arboretum and Cedar Park were both full if you didn't get there early enough, this is the to go place in the area if you want to study or read a couple of books. And quite honestly you can pretty much order any books using the library of congress lending system so collection size may not be a problem at all.
I know it is small and sometimes noisy, but this is the nearest one to my place, and they have lovely books, cook books, magazines, Kids books, tool books, CDs, movies, even game collection! So this one is among my favorite locations. They also have books in other language. And the staff here are nice and helpful. ==Second visit== Visited on a Saturday afternoon, nice and quiet inside. They also have some nice outdoor sitting area. Children’s Area. In the New Books section they have Book Sale, usually $1 or $2 per book, really good deal. They also have a running list of New York Times best seller books of the current week and last week. Love that!
I’ve been to this library a few times over the years but recently stayed for an extended time to get some work done. This is the closest library to my place so the convenience is nice. However, this place isn’t quiet in the slightest. There were people on the phone, kids screaming, and so much general noise. It’s a pretty small location, so sounds travels. The place could also use some updating. The tables are metal with plastic chairs, no it’s really isn’t a cozy place to read. In the future I’d probably get my books and go.
Im not sure that i understand the upgrades that went into this place a couple of years ago. It does not seem that much different but the content is good and i love libraries and am always able to find a good book here. I was also tipped off to signing up with hoopla recently which is an online portal containing a tremendous supply of library data/content that can be downloaded at home. They do have a limit on how much download each library card holder can download each month but it is a great resource, nonetheless.
Milwood is repping the ATX in style, a blend of artistic with industrial, and with vines absolutely covering the building. The WiFi is Incredibly fast with a lot of power outlets and sitting areas. There's an impressive statue garden on the walk towards the building. You'll find plenty of parking on both sides of the building. I also love that they stay open until 9pm on most days, adding the final touch to make them one of the best libraries (and hidden treasures) in North Austin.
Walked over to library with my service animal and spoke to female employee about the hours. She ignores me at first but when she realized I hadn't given up she turns around. She must have assumed I was homeless because I had my dog. She told me they "don't have computers for you to use," even though I was asking about a book. Then she told me they were closing up so she couldn't help me. Turns out they were open for another hour. Idk if she was having a bad day or what
Registration was slow and the librarian didn't explain well how to use all the services when she issued the card. She did't tell how to register online, what my PIN is, how to return book, etc. I figured out myself that I can do drive through drop-off but I have to waste so much time trying to figure how to register online and still did not succeed. Bad service!
The library is cozy and quite busy all the time but idk why the librarians are so noisy! They use some steel carts to load unload books and causes a lot of noises, and the front desk lady librarian is quite chatty, so much so, that even sitting in a different corner you can totally understand what they are saying. I wish they’d consider improving these.
Great neighborhood library. Helpful librarians and a good selection of books, comics, movies, etc. Anything you can't find you can reserve online and have it delivered. Fast wi-fi is another plus! Thankful for this library.
Closes before 5 minutes before 9. Came all the way to the library to pick up a hold and they wouldn't open the door even though it wasn't closing time. Called them and explained and they still refused. Super unhappy!
Good library with good service. My request to library is that they should offer story time for 3-5 years age kids in the evening hours rather than morning time because preschoolers go to school in the morning.
Don't know why they bothered to waste tax money building this branch, or why they keep it open. Small to the point of meaningless. Cramped, no place to sit, little selection, noisy...
This is a great library, lots of room, extremely clean and the employees are both professional and fun. Great place to bring Grandkids or just sit, relax and read.
Nice and helpful staff- though it is very little places to sit. Upgrades I guess were nice but didn't add additional seating for patrons of the library …
Wonderful! I've been coming here since I was a kid and this branch has only gotten better since the remodel. Good assortment of genres and a helpful staff
The staff is always helpful, amicable, and courteous. It's a great place with plenty of room and parking. And the location is so peaceful and quiet ❣️
One of our favorite libraries. The kid section is sectioned off which I like and the staff is super helpful and you can recycle batteries there.
This library is awesome! The only downside is the selection is small, but that's due to the building size. But the hours are great.
This library is very small but the facility itself is new and clean. The staff was more than helpful in renewing my library card.
Not a good location for a quiet place to read. Staff won't shut up. I thought libraries were suppose to quiet.
Staff is always friendly. It's on the smaller side, but they still manage to host a full calendar of events.
Freindly and helpful staff. Best place to get real books. Great program for kids and online services …
This place is still basically shut down even though everything else is open for business
Good selection of graphic novels and movies. Staff are polite and helpful.
Nice library, friendly staff. They have a good kids section too!
I wish library could have more collection. Otherwise very good.
Smaller library, but staff is super friendly and knowledgeable
