Cozy cafe close to Henry street, opposite the jervis car park entrance. As the name suggests, feels like a tram on the outside and inside. Although it might look small, they’ve reasonable seating inside and a few tables outside as well. The menu is quite small, but they’ve options for vegetarians and vegans. Davorn was friendly and helpful - he recommended the Cajun chicken toasted sandwich - it was filling and delicious. It had the right mix and proportion of ingredients. Chicken was well cooked and it was not overloaded with mayo or cheese. Vegan sausage roll, it was nice, good for an evening snack with a coffee or tea. Staff was friendly and courteous. Prices were reasonable compared to some of the other cafes in and around the city centre.

Was looking for a quiet cafe in Dublin and this is located at the back of the leprechaun museum. They have outdoor and indoor seating and table service. Upon entering I placed my order and the lovely staff offered me a seat and brought it over. They run a tab system so you pay at the end. I stayed here for around 2 hours with a good book and was waited on hand and foot. The building is warm and cosy with tram like seats in the main compartment. They play quiet music as background noise and most of these are 90s 00s classics. When I was due to leave I had a nice conversation with the staff and they explained about live bands they have on.

Visit today for a treat for my grandmother, we have all been here and love it. However today , this Brazilian guy and his co worker served rotten coffee ,dirty kniefs and fork The excuse was the dishwasher ,however in the hospitality section myself , customer service is top priority. The forks should have been steeped and scrubbed before going into dishwasher. The samwhiches where soggy and cold. No apologies ,inside laughing and then on top of that it was a total waste of 20 euro ... We loved the tram. If I had off been there it would not have happened. These two employees are obviously not loving their job. This tram is an amazing place and wonderful history and story ...shame it's run by people with no manners no apologies and I would like refund .I don't pay for much

My partner and I went to this cafe last week and we got mixed feelings. The aesthetics of the place are lovely and the hot drinks were nice. The mains are mainly sandwiches, nothing too special but they were not bad. However we got the sensation that the personnel struggled to assist all the clients. We ordered orange juice and they didn’t warn us that it was bottled and not natural. When we wanted to pay the bill, they didn’t bring it, and when we went to the main counter to pay and go they couldn’t find our ticket with the orders. We heard another table next to us who were also waiting a long time to get their order noted. I would probably repeat but only for a coffee catch up, not a brunch date.

For a unique dining experience inside an old tram with original features, this is a favourite with locals and tourists alike. There is an atmospheric outdoor seating area and a secret covered garden with a tree in the middle outside around the back of the tram. Situated in a public square opposite the side of the Jervis Shopping centre, you can relax and get good food and drinks at very reasonable prices. They have a wonderful menu which I have partially photographed and also a glimpse inside the tram, as well as the outside area which has been recently made more beautiful. Very friendly staff and a unique experience, that's what makes dining here a joy. Enjoy the photos! Enjoy the experience!

I really loved the atmosphere here. I enjoyed scrambled eggs for breakfast. While I waited for my wife to return I inquired as to the history of the tram which I got in detail. There are various pictures on the walls depicting the trams restoration. This cafe is looking for planning permission to remain a permanent fixture in this open space. I feel this area needs another dimension. Help this tram cafe get a permanent premissiin to remain here so they can upgrade their facilities. Go and enjoy a coffee or tea in peace and help their cause. This lovingly restored piece of period transport and history should remain here. I hope to see it when I return.

I was shopping with the wife and I needed a quick caffeine boost. I saw the tram and thought why not. The espresso was served through a hatch . Decent coffee. I’ll be back for a sandwich.

Ancient meets modern. This is the simplest way to describe this little vintage cafe in the heart of Dublin. This place has a beautiful history which can be read by whoever visits this cafe. As the name suggests, this cafe is an old tram that has been modified and so the seats inside are like that of a tram. Seating outside, though is like that of a normal cafe, is beautiful on a sunny day. So in either way it’s a beautiful win-win situation, where, either you enjoy the seating inside the tram while soaking up the history or enjoy the pleasant weather outside in the background of the vintage tram.

Liked this place so handy Young staff do their best with what they have Sandwiches are very nice and full as young people, making them helpful but no soup on and selection of soft drinks not great Selection of bread could be better, but understand you have to work with what is available at the time. Coffee is their make thing, but not everyone drinks it Great location and has helped clean up the area too

The Tram Cafe was an unexpected bonus on our visit to St. Patrick's Cathedral. Our youngest was shell-shocked at the deliciousness of the gluten free chocolate chip cookie. (I'm judgy about the texture of GF goodies more than the taste, and I was equally floored by how amazing it was.) The portion sizes for just one meal (sandwich and crisps) were nearly enough for two of us. The staff members were so inviting that we felt like old friends. As an added bonus, the kids could run around in the park while Mom and Dad took our time enjoying the food and staying under the umbrella, out of the rain.

  • Greg Rogers

Unique cafe and a must for all train enthusiasts. The original cafe is a fully restored early 20th century tram carriage with original seating for approx 15 people. From memory 2 x tables for 4 people and maybe 4 tables for 2 people. An extension has been added, like a conservatory, with seating for perhaps another 30+ people. A canopy at the front shelters outdoor tables. During the summer table numbers are extended outdoors so you can watch the world go by. No significant traffic in this area. Great selection of sandwiches, cakes, pancakes and the daily hot pot is always yummy. Recommended.

  • Dermot Murphy

Location is very central. The tram itself is impressive and very cozy. I've been here a few times and the first time the waiter was terrible thankfully this one is a bit better however they should ask right away if needing anything. I had to wait a good while before being approached as the staff were more interested in chatting in Portuguese to themselves rather than dealing with the customer right in front of them. I say this as there was another lady waiting at the take away desk for a long time. Improve that and the freshness of the cakes and it's onto a winner

  • Mark Dunbar

Great story behind the tram, Dave the owner can explain in better detail than I can here. There is an outside area out front and a covered in seating area to rear. We called in for breakfast 01 November, Dave explained that because it was coming into the quiet season only some items were available before 10:30. We had our fill with what was available enjoying reading about the trams previous existence and listening to background jazz music. There is live music on Friday night and live jazz on Sunday. We'll be back.

  • Jacob

A real gem in north side city centre! The coffee and food is lovely, some of the best coffee I've had in Dublin, and much better than the endless Starbucks. What really makes the tram shine is the ambience, situated in Wolf Tone square, the old tram car has ample outdoor seating kept nice and warm by electric heaters as a lovely selection of classic tunes provide a very unique background noise. Really can't recommend this place enough, amazing little location right in the heart of the north side shopping area.

  • Ro

After I was first directed the wrong branch where they are not even open due to renovations, I followed their directions to the next branch where staff claimed they had given my order to someone else and had nothing left for me. I had paid through an app and they just shrugged and offered no refund, nothing. Wasted my whole break from work getting to these 2 branches of the Tram Cafe and then left empty handed and out of pocket after having pre-paid. Worse than useless

Absolutely amazing. Stopped here as my first official meal in Ireland and was nowhere near dissapointed. Adorable ideal of using an old street car as a restaurant. I also have no idea how they are turning out these great meals in such a small place. I got their spup of the day which was a Pumkin, mushroom and coconut milk soup. I was a little hesitant but it was probably the best use of pumpkin since the pumpkin pie. Great Job guys. For all people interested in visiting Dublin this to me is a must.

  • Josh Noon

Knocking a star off since my first review, unfortunately the quality of food has deteriorated since this place first opened. The hotpot always seems to be lasagne now and twice it has been cold in the middle. Still a great place to go with good coffee, friendly staff and a wonderful atmosphere. *Original Review* Wonderful little café with delicious hotpots and coffee. Feels a world away from the crowded coffee shops elsewhere in the city centre.

  • Dwane Parton

The food that yous prepare for mcverry trust is disgusting and vile yous wouldnt serve the food yous cook today to the customer tomorrow but the homeless yous do...thrown together meals same dinner 3,4 times a week just called something else...white chicken one day chicken stew the next and than chicken alfredo its the same bloody dish...i will bring a tray of your food to st patricks park and see what your customers think

  • Edyta Dolan

Great novelty place in the heart of the city. Very accommodating staff. The only minus point is for not having a restroom which was more understandable when the cafe was literally in the tram only and less since it has expanded. I am sure it is to do with the city permissions etc. but I hope it will be possible one day as on a rainy day like today one does not want to have to run to the shopping center across the street.

  • Jonathan Ridinger

Love this place because of the atmosphere. Very unique. Still a bit angry that they reduced their menu (especially savoury crepes which were my favourites). But still good food. Hoping for the crepes to make a comeback one day.

The staff are always super lovely, friendly and helpful (even when i order an almond milk vanilla late!) The food is always lovely and the tram is the cutest thing ever. As a vintage lady and jazz afficiando, there is always old school jazz playing which is fantastic and it's a wonderful quiet spot to chat with friends, have an intimate conversation or date, or catch up with anyone. The coffee is always amazing too!

  • James Bacon

Lovely spot - the team work hard to keep you comfy. The sandwichs are great and the secret garden lovely. The new loo ok the square is a gift. This is real tram, imported, restored, expanded. It's gorgeous in normal times to sit in and there's a rear inside area. In covid times they now have a huge awning that covers many tables and there is a secret covered garden area at the back. Working hard doing lovely stuff.

  • scott carroll

Got a vegan breakfast roll and it far surpassed expectations, will definitely be going again. Only criticism is they gave me Crisps which is a lovely touch but they were cheese and onion flavoured which cannot be eaten by a stricter vegan than I. Staff were extremely kind and atmosphere was very relaxed.

The Tram Cafè is a beautiful cafe that is unique & situated in a lovely area. The story behind the cafe is one of perseverance & triumph. The owner has brought to Dublin a lovely piece of history & the cafe has expanded since my last time there. The decor is AMAZING. The staff are fantastic, very pleasant & always very welcoming. Highly recommend dropping by & enjoying the tasty delights on the menu.

1 star foe the flavour or the Soup. But not the portion size. Service came across as rush. As was approched by the waiter and ask am i ready to order , barely even sat down or looked at the menu. We were kept been stared at by the owner while eating my soup. Was not thrusted go to the till pay the bill. Uncomfortable experience.

The Tram Café in Dublin is quite a unique café where it looks like a repurposed tram that got turned into a café. In addition to the friendly and efficient staff, we found the coffee from the Tram Café to be delicious. It’s conveniently located near a Luas station and Henry street too so it’s readily accessible.

Tram Cafe. Great spot. Live jazz on Sunday till about 17.00. On a fairly large square in the centre of the city. Some trees and a full size bronze cow lying down in the open. Tasty food with all day breakfast. Good coffee and great atmosphere. Reasonable prices. It is an old tram car converted into seating and kitchen with large extension "tent" attached to the side. I'd recommend trying it.

  • Charlie Hoey

I stopped there today for a coffee. I tried to get the waiters attention a few times. He wasn’t busy I must add. I was there 10 minutes and still no waiter service. He then began cleaning tables and I asked could I give an order. He replied he’d be with me in a few minutes!! I left and went elsewhere. I suggest this guy needs training or else he needs to find another job.

Lovely setting for a coffee, brunch or lunch! A gem of Dublin, you rarely find this European style cafe in the city. The cafe is set in a real old tram, with extended outside seating. Food is simple but tasty, coffee is really good. They do takeaway, but note: no bathroom! Also live has Friday night and Sunday afternoon :)

  • Briana B

Stopped here before our flight back home. I’m so happy we found this place. Inside seating was closed, so we sat in the patio area outside. Weather wasn’t too bad so we were okay with that. We watched the birds while we ate. The food and drinks were delicious and the staff was very nice! Definitely recommend!

Excellent menu. Variety and price. Lovely location. If you're there, don't forget to read the menu to know a little bit more about the history of this tram, it's from Philadelphia. Staff are nice and really recommend going on Fridays night, when they have the jazz and bossa nova with a pair of Brazilian guys.

The location and interior are great with fitting music really nice ambiance, definitely a nice place for a coffee date. The coffee is probably not for the coffee lover/connoisseur it's a very light/fruity coffee. We had a Guinness cake which to me tastes more like a fruit cake it was nice just not the best.

  • A Q

Very cute décor, in a convenient and nice enough location. I just wish this place was better than it is, as sadly the coffee is not good at all. I can't say much more than that as after the first coffee, I have not gone back. My money is better spent on nicer coffee. Maybe I'll try them again and reassess.

Really like the Tram and it's a great concept. Unlike the other Tram Cafe location in St Patrick's Park, this one is a bit of a problem. The area it's in attracts a great many outdoor cider drinkers and the likes, so the whole area can feel a little dingy. But this isn't the cafe's fault.

  • Ehud R.

Good food , good music , great service , coffee of just ok quality . I recommend coming before the gig start so you have enough space to sit . Sunday they do jazz concert which is very cool! All in all a good choice for small and medium size groups; avoid it if you need large seating area

Was here on a warm irsh summer Sundays. At Tram Cafe the offer good selection of hot drinks, one the best crepes in Dublin, nice spot to have a brunch at terrace overlooking the square, for a moment it felt that I'm somewhere in continental European city, not in Dublin.

The sandwich and quiche we had were disappointing, and some of the dishes were dirty. They're relying on their location and the cute train car to attract people, but in my opinion there's much better food in other nearby places. Also, be aware that there's no toilet.

I took this photo in 2011 in a field in County Meath. I checked out its history- The ex-Lisbon No.305, Portugal. Then Tram No.25 'Colwyn Bay, Greenfield Road', Wales. I next came upon it in Dublin as The Tram Café! Well done on the salvage.
