My cat was having breathing troubles, her usual vet was booked solid and referred to emergency vet care, one place would not be until 6pm. Wilson St. Veterinary Clinic had an appointment sooner then once known the situation they said let us get Bella in between appointments if could get there right away and we did immediately. Dr Mogavero to be perfectly honest seems a little cold at first, but we were grateful for the appointment and we did sort of land there suddenly and he did not know us or Bella and of course we were quiet but very anxious wanting to coddle her++ especially since so I’ll. Stay with them, and within a minute or two he got to it, clearly doing a very thorough exam which is very good, and by the time he had to take her to back to treatment room within 5 minutes of seeing Bella, the two of them went off looking like quite a team:), he had her scooped coddled with paws outward away from him and she just seemed to trustingly go with him probably knowing help was being tried and fatigued not feeling well. He did some blood work and X-rays and another sample. He ended up being very personable, thorough, he did not mislead and gave the prognosis and treatment options, it wasn’t great but sometimes is what is not his fault or our’s or Bella’s, we just hoped all could be ok of course but better to know than false hopes. He was able to relieve her some in one treatment and he gave something that might help elongate her time and alleviate and any other needs arise offered his services and even had their office called the next day to see how Bella is doing and how her meds are going. Especially on short notice he too a lot of time with Bella, answered all our questions. No matter what we are grateful, and even beyond that we had great service and with kindness. Last but not least especially Sheila but also Rebecca were wonderful as well. And, cost is cost, often Veterinary services are costly and rightfully geared to service given, but for what is Dr Mogavero was beyond fair and did not try obtain anything unnecessary. No problems, thank you very much, definitely recommend Wilson St Veterinary Clinic.

Apparently this clinic works together with West Park Animal Hospital, I was seeing Dr. Rice and Dr. Mongavero for the same issue with my cat. I was prescribed a medication by Dr. Rice of 10 ml metronidazole 125mg/ml dose 0.8 ml per day for 12 days. As my cat could not tolerate the flavour I returned the medication after first dose and asked for the original flavour she had been on previously. When I picked up the new medication I noticed it was filled by Dr. Mogavero 10 ml metronidazole 100mg/ml dose 1 ml per day. I pointed out this difference to him and the fact that Dr. Rice wanted to increase the length of time my cat was on the medication and strength. To which he replied I can just increase the dosage of his version to 1.4 ml daily of the medication and my cat would not need to be on it more than 5 days because that is a sufficient enough run. This, despite the fact that my cat had already been on the medication for a week previously and presumably why Dr. Rice wanted to try a 12 day run. I don’t know which of the 2 vets has the better judgement or experience but if they’re working together they should at least be on the same page and not offering different opinions and changing prescriptions haphazardly. In addition, the weaker strength version of the medication provided by Dr. Mogavero was also more costly. On a positive note they were the only clinic that was able to see my cat quickly when she first got sick.

I have been very disappointed in the service provided by Dr. Mogavero. I had started going to Dr. Rice three years ago and loved her! Something has happened that she has limited time in this clinic. I went for a rabies shot yesterday for my dog since it got missed at his last year’s vaccine appointment that was done by Dr. Mogavero. He asked me how it got missed and implied that I had not had my dog’s previous profile forwarded from my last vet (we moved from a different town), which I assured him I had. He was only to administer a rabbies shot but somehow I was told I needed to get heart worm checked now before the summer (always had it done in July previously) and buy more Bravecto asap (although I still had two more pills that would do him to July?). I was charged $605!!!!! His 10 minute scolding as to why I didn’t get my dog neutered and asking me if I will get him neutered when he gets cancer, and his exact words: “Because he will for a fact” cost me $119.20! The vaccine alone only cost $28.39?? I felt bullied and unable to say no to Dr. Mogavero; I was very upset leaving the office because of his lecture and I will NEVER go back. I only booked in on a Wednesday because I was advised Dr Rice worked Wednesdays.

I have 2 cats one goes to Golf Links Veterinary Hospital and the other one ,because they didn't have spot for him there we took to this clinic. They do the clinical examination and the needles in a room, where you as the owner cannot enter! And if you have any question then you have to ask whoever is at the front desk. The last time I went I needed some forms to be filled because I am traveling outside Canada. So they charged me money to fill out the forms (one paper), which was not filled out completely! The form MUST BE COMPLETED COMPLETELY BY A VET. So they left the destination, the owner name, the address empty saying that I can fill them out myself! They even left the cat coat type blank! I also asked for some medication to calm down the kitten during the long trip 4 TIMES and every time they tell me they had no idea that I need that, and they will leave a note for the vet. On top of that I find most of people who work there are not friendly. I would so much prefer going to Golf link Vet where everyone is nice and friendly. Where you normally can go in with your pet and have a chance to talk to the vet and ask him questions while he or she is caring for your pet.

Don’t go to this clinic if you want a veterinarian with empathy. My dog was having a medical emergency: he could not stand, his pupils were dilated, and he was having involuntary muscle contractions - yet was responsive. By the time that I carried my dog into my car and got to the clinic, he was feeling somewhat better - walking, more responsive. I’m broke and the bill would be very expensive for me, so when I saw that he was feeling better, I thought I’d like to take him around the block and then reassess whether he needed urgent care. The vet told me that I could either get service now or not come back. Where is your heart? You can’t spare a few minutes for a scary and extremely rare situation? I only hope this isn’t the same attitude that goes into the care of the other animals at this clinic.

Had 1 appointment successfully. Then at next appointment, front desk told us they had no record of us or our dog. We showed them the record and they were confused. Then said that we must have called to cancel the appointment that day because they had no record of it. Rebooked us for the next week - and there was no Vet in that day! On 2 occasions my dog went through the trauma of going to vet - for no reason. Front desk staff is very confused. Vet not very friendly. Overall, incredibly frustrating experience. Would not recommend at all - zero stars is not an option though.

I am submitting this review on behalf of a dear friend who is unable to do online reviews. Kudos to Wilson Street Veterinary Clinic in Ancaster. Clarisse, one of my kitties needed prompt euthanasia, but her normal vet was too busy and unable to assist me during this difficult time. Dr Mogovero, and the Wilson Street Veterinary Clinic kindly made a heart breaking situation as stress free as possible. I am extremely grateful. Thank you. Joan Hryskiw

They physically abused my 8 week old puppy, and verbally abused myself, and my parents who had to come in to sort the situation out. This is not a place I would bring my worst enemy. Anyone that can hurt an animal, especially a small 7 lb puppy, should not be in care of pets. It has taken many years to write this review as I never experienced such a traumatic experience in my life. Do not bring your pets here if you care about them

  • dana sawyer

We bring our pet here and from his first visit found a staff which is willing to help owners. Someone is always ready with an answer if you call asking for an opinion or information. A staff member had us bring our puppy in to show us ways to get his head collar on after I mentioned it being a problem in a phone call. If the great customer service doesn't do it for you ...they are not overpriced like some places tend to be.

Dog had UTI called Golf Links but they couldn’t see the dog until the next day and a ‘Wellness Test’ was required before we could get antibiotics or relief for the dog. Called Wilson Vet and spoke to Sheila and my dog was seen by the Vet that day. The vet explained all the options to me; gave me preliminary antibiotics ... Sitting here with my dog who seems more pain free and relaxed. Thank you Wilson vet.

When my bunny Zeus began experiencing health issues in the later years of his life, I took him here. The staff were really nice and the resident cat was very sweet. The vet (Dr Mogavero) was very professional, knowledgeable and straight to the point. When it was Zeus' time, Dr Mogavero was amazing and very kind. I would totally recommend this clinic!

  • Brendan Madore

The vet was rude and standoffish, tried to rush through appointment because they wanted to go home early. Attempted to guilt us for buy flea spray at the pet store, even though it was exactly the same brand and product they sell at the clinic, and gave us no information about our new kitten or any of the medications that administered to him.

I had to bring my 14 year old schnauzer to the clinic due to unspecified pain and urinary incontinence while sleeping. Dr. Mogavero and the staff were very knowledgeable. Even though the clinic was closing for the day, the staff and Dr. Mogavero ensured my dog had all the tests needed and medication prescribed. I highly recommend this vet.
