Ridiculous. Condescending. Difficult and Lazy Drove all the way to this location for this manager,Kimberly, to avoid returning an unneeded item at all cost. I was greeted by a lovely cashier that was very nice. I can tell she was in training because the older women with the dreads came to assist immediately. I can hear the old woman whispering about the condition of the cushion. Well the cushion never been used. It was too big for the egg chair. There after weeks of my wife procrastinating, I decided to return it myself. 1) The older lady said it was “dirty”, which it wasn’t. If it was, it wasn’t stained. She briefly lectured me on the “return policy”. But out the graciousness of her heart she’ll allow me to return it. 2) Once the return process officially began, she asked for the card ending in “xxxx”. The card sounds close to the card I use ending in “xxxx”, but not the exact. I’m positive it’s contactless payment, Apple Pay any other NFC. I tried to explain to hear it was “Apple Pay”. She yet again starts to lecture me about “company’s policy and how she has Apple Pay and the number is the same”. Well, actually it’s not, the number changes on the receipt with every tap, or dip. This is common knowledge amongst merchants and businesses. Unfortunately, this woman is clearly a tech genius, and I have no clue what I’m saying. But wait! The younger, smarter, more professional associate in training knew that! And tried to explain it to her as well, but NO! We’re wrong and she can’t help me. 3) I willing to let the company keep its little coins and just ask for store credit and was, you guessed it…DECLINED. I’ve never heard of a company deny a customer STORE CREDIT! Had the receipt, was under 30 days. It was clear to me that she didn’t want to return the item. So here’s what I do know about retail. She didn’t want to start the day in the negative. I understand very well how this works. I imagine if I come back in the middle of the day, with a different associate, I’d have NOT. A. SINGLE. ISSUE. To keep from losing my cool, I left. Will definitely be back to return this in a better mindset.

I always want to love this place. They carry some unique things. This is a part online order experience and part for this particular location. I saw a wreath online I loved and I just so happened to have a giftcard for a related store, sweat! Didn’t want to have to pay $5 and change for a $5 item, so I found something else that i thought was fun. Order placed. Awesome. Sometime later I got an email that my order shipped, I didn’t open it Bc didn’t think I needed to, I thought everything was great. It didn’t say “part of your order” or anything that made me think anything was wrong. Mistake. The very next day I get an email stating that one of my items was out of stock and they were canceling that item from my order. It just so happened that item was the reason for the purchase. I wish they would have contacted me before they shipped out the rest of my order because I would have just canceled my order and grabbed the second item in stores, maybe. I ended up paying $5 in shipping for a $7 item which I would have never done if I had a choice. Anyways, I headed to the store to use the rest of my giftcard...and I had found some holiday wrapping paper I thought was cute. The website also said it was in stock in this particular store. Great! I wondered around the store looking for the holiday paper and browsing other items. I finally ask an associate about holiday/Christmas wrapping paper. She had to ask another associate who pointed me to an area that only had bags and bag stuffing. Absolutely no wrapping paper. Not what I specially asked for. Okay...I try to track down another associate and one of them totally ignores me and I can’t find anyone that already previously hadn’t know or ignored me. Not even the one that pointed me to the wrong place. Beyond the initial treating from coming in the store seemingly friendly and being good intiL customer interaction this place falls flat on their face, at least today. It’s a decent place to walk around and look at items if you don’t want any assistance.

Went in tonight after I got off of work at 8 to get a bottle of wine and was completely ignored by the three employees I encountered. As soon as I entered, the cashier right by the front made eye contact with me and didnt even say anything. Not a "Welcome" or even a smile. Since I was searching for one thing, I went straight back to the wines. There I encountered two more employees - a man and a woman. One who I even let by while he wad trying to put a bottle back on the shelf (I think his coworker was checking inventory ofnit or something. That's what it sounded like based on the bit of their conversation I heard at least). No words from them at all. I ended up looking throughout the wine section for about 10 minutes before leaving empty handed. And I was prompty ignored AGAIN as I left. Look. I get it. It was 30 minutes until close. Ive been working in food service and in retail since I was 18. But DAMN. Ive loved World Market since I was a kid and I was really excited to visit this location since Im new to the area. Definitely not coming back to this location anytime soon if they just straight up ignore patrons.

Complete rude manager Kristopher who proceeded to tell me my online order was not priority. I get that once you receive notification by email its ready to pickup then there should be no issue. He was bothered that we came in just to see if the items were indeed in stock as previously told by another store they items were discontinued. So if we located them we best drive to that location and buy them or like this mananger Kristopher advised he could sell them out from under my online order. He also stated that he was not a fan of the online order and in store pickup. He also said i have 4 or 5 gals working today and he was the only male so you know they cant lift or move merchandise? Pretty sexist if you think women cant lift merchandise or load dining room chairs. I will not be back to this store and canceled my order.

Online ordering review experience. Ordered a couch a month ago. Zipper was broken on the pillow. Ottoman still missing in transit. After 4 calls with support of giving me the runaround. I’ll get my refund after a month of them saying the ottoman and was on its way. Side note they will offer 25% to 40% off for bad experiences and for you to keep the item. I rather have my full couch with the ottoman I ordered and pillows that are intact. Don’t order online. The delivery company, Pliot, for the Houston area they use is horrible and I think the main organization responsible for this experience. You can search their reviews to see tons of others having the same experience with lost or damaged goods.

What is up with their "Global Explorer (non-rewards customer purchase tracking only) program"? Why should I enter my number, when it only serves to increase their profits, and help me lose weight in my bank account? I do miss the "Macy's 'Cellar'" type area other Cost Plus World Market locations used to have, about 18-22 years ago, like la tienda by the Galleria. They also used to have a more varied selection of international beer. Now, they have every craft brewery IPA made in this country, however you'll find neither "McEwan's Scotch Ale" nor "McEwan's Scotch Export". They can't order those for you anymore either.

Hi - Alaina and her team went above and beyond to help me with a manufacturing issue with an office chair. The chair was peeling. Unfortunately, the chair was discontinued shortly after I purchased it, but she went at great lengths to find a replacement office chair and have it sent to me. I deeply appreciate her and the excellent customer service experience. I never take the time to write reviews like this but this was just such a great experience. The Seattle office also did a wonderful job to support in this situation. Thank you so so much. I will truly be a World Market customer for life after this experience.

  • Alexis Hernandez

Have purchased many items at this location. Went in to return a desk, person I spoke with on the phone said I didn’t have to worry about taking it apart. I separated the legs from the top and brought it in. Manager wouldn’t take it since it had a scuff mark from transporting it to the store. If i had known she would be so picky I would have put it in the box and returned it that way. Will not be purchasing from this location again as I know that they do open box sales for returned items. I did not receive the usual customer service as I have in the past.

  • D. J.

Emilio, Emilio, oh Emilio! How I appreciate thee. Man my first day of work for this awesome Interior Designer in Houston and not only did your store have the mirror my boss wanted you of course offered to carry it out to my car. I am grateful for your excellent customer service and how helpful you were and signing me up for a 15% discount. You were a great customer service person and I could sense the kindness in your voice. (Enough DJ get a room). You were awesome and your manager she was equally helpful.

It's nice having a World Market near us because when they have sales, their prices are reasonable and sometimes unbeatable. They carry unique furniture, lamps and home items and the store is always clean and easy to navigate. Staff (when available) are friendly and willing to help. Parking is nice and there's a lot on top of the building. My biggest disappointment is lack of pricing or ability to find the cost of many items. They also need to start carrying the white chocolate coffee syrup!

  • Rae Deanna Collins

Hannah was so helpful getting my daughter and I taken care of in the store over the weekend, outfitting our living room. A few weeks before that, Mary Elizabeth and Kimberly helped me immensely after I placed a large online order. I have always loved this shop, but since returning to hoUSton and discovering it moved from the galleria, I’m very pleased with the heights location and the customer caretakers that work there. It and they come highly recommended.

  • Tejeshwar Rao

Worst in store support team ever. The store worker refused to sell me a mirror on display, while their online website says it’s available. They claimed that they cannot sell me mirrors on display due to safety reasons. I offered to help the store manager to get it down myself so I can buy it and the manager refused to accept my help saying it was dangerous. Never seen a store not wanna sell their items. Might as well start calling in World Market Museum!

  • Dan Aikins

I stopped in briefly for a bottle of wine. The store was well organized and clean. The staff was friendly and there was no crowd while I was there. The wine prices, though, seemed a little higher than grocery store prices. I only buy cheaper bottles so I am no expert, but for the wines of which I was familiar their prices were a couple dollars more per bottle. They have a good selection of wine, though, so I'll likely be back to buy wine in the future

  • Marissa Jenkins

Great Team at 195 Yale Street Houston, Texas Cost Plus World Market!!! Daniel was so courteous and helpful...he even walked me through getting the coupons for signing up on my phone!!! We spent almost $400 that day that we would not have if we hadn't been told about the coupons which made the price lower than anywhere else we had shopped that day! Way to go Daniel - I wish more employees were like you...I'm sure business owners do as well.

  • Margeau Faticone

First experience going to World Market. We were greeted with amazing customer service and ended up with an impulse purchase on a couch that we love. Stock manager Kimberly was amazing and helped us order the item online. We had to unexpectedly leave town for work and she assisted us with holding our item until our return. Kimberly understands retail service and goes above and beyond for her customers. We will be back again! Thank you Kim!

  • Jody M

An interior designer recommended World Market's Brynn chair so I went to take a look. (It's been ages since I've been in a World Market; seriously like over a decade.) Very glad I went. So many things for the home that I like. Throw pillows and blankets, furniture, dinnerware, even a food, tea, and coffee section. And the chair was exactly what I wanted. The staff was friendly and helpful too. I'll definitely be going back.

  • Latoya Ellis

I absolutely love this store. I candy land for adults. It's very easy to browse for two hours. The staff are friendly and helpful. The store is clean, organized and laid out well. If you looking for unique pieces from furniture to cards this is your place. One can purchase items that were hand made from place like Africa, Bali Thailand and more. One can find something for every age group here and be proud of it.

  • Kathryn Hatfield

I can't go past Cost Plus World Market without wanting to go in. Great range of interesting home goods and of course the food and beverages section is wonderful. I love that they have foods from so many places around the world and LOVE that they stock a reasonable range of Fair Trade products. They also have great bargains in fabric products (curtains, tablecloths, etc) and gift packaging. Highly recommended.

  • t jac

This place is full of loads of different unique finds. The deals are crazy cheap but still a good quality. I got some new curtains on sale that had a weird coloring on them. I washed them and they look good as NEW!!! I paid $10 for $50 curtains!! They have a grocery department in the back that has all sorts of cool foodie finds. Try their authentic Ramen and Pho packets and their vintage soda pop!!

  • Riley Borges

The store itself was nice and clean, but I had a bad experience. There were only 2 open registers and both lanes were stuck dealing with difficult situations for over 10 minutes. There were at least 10 groups waiting the lines. One mother and her young son ended up ditching their shopping cart out of frustration. The staff could have called for backup or tried to get things moving faster.

  • A LOP

Decent place to shop for random things like a kitchen chair, a bottle of condiments, a nightstand, or even clothes. It’s like a fancy flea market with return policies. Staff is attentive when they check you out, other than that they are all doing their business. Now as of prices for some of those things in there, I would say they are overpriced. Good store to look around though.

  • Patricia Thibodeaux

Better than I expected. They had limited inventory but made up for it with excellent customer service. I drove quite a distance for a special item. It was not IN store, but staff "pulled rabbit out of a hat" literally and found at another store while i shopped, and ordered items delivered to my home, all while assisting others. NOW, "THAT" IS HOW YOU DO BUSINESS!

  • Catsur na

Your typical World Market; unusual international foods, expensive furniture, fancy bath products, very nice cards for all occasions, vast array of kitchen stuffs, and some nice wall art. They have the same great selection as all the other WMs in Houston, but the service is top notch. My only complaint is that it's a bit difficult to get into/out of the parking lot.

  • Jodie Sabino

Amazing selections and helpful staff. I wasn’t ready to purchase our dining table on my first visit but thankfully Keeton was there to help me through the furniture hold process. He checked to make sure what I wanted was in stock and how I could get the best discount by signing up as a member. Grateful for his assistance and plan to come back to do more shopping!

  • Rod Keels

This store carries an eclectic variety of international merchandise, and it's displayed in beautiful manner. It's a great place to pick up a unique gift for family or friends. If you can't think of a gift for someone, you might find it here. I especially like the Dusseldorf Style mustard (senf) that they sell. It's a good condiment for sausages or bratwurst.

  • Bria Miller

I had to spend an extra 5-10 minutes in this store picking up an order that they gave to someone else. They clearly are not checking ids or confirmation emails. The only thing that would make sense is that they mixed it up with someone else’s order. I was asked if someone else came to pick it up; like why would I be here if that was the case.

  • Britt Huggins

I love world market! Just not this one. The manager on duty was the least bit friendly and casually kept walking past my friend and I whilst making very gruff sounds in passing. Never once speaking but visibly popping up beside us and loudly making sounds of disdain the moment she drew near. Not cool. Ruined my friends first experience here.

  • J. Russell La Cour

Truly disappointed in this particular store. I have been to many other other locations and always a quality assistance. At this particular store not one person Advanced they asked me if I need any help or if there is anything they could do for me. Everyone was very busy having their personal conversations to pay any attention to the client.

  • Silvia Hernandez

I was there to purchase a console table about a week ago and I was pleased with my purchase, I believe Tristan and Alexis were their names but they were extremely helpful trying to help my husband and I put the box in our small vehicle, they we kind and down to earth. I will definitely be back to purchase home items at this location.

  • OnionComb

Great prices and amazing finds. A little of everything from food to decor. A ton of cooking utensils and gadgets along with all kinds of snacks. They always end up having something on sale or something new to try. The employees are very friendly and helpful. Worth going to check out when you want to cook something unique.

  • J

Love this place. I always find something to buy, even if I'm not looking. You can always find things you can't find anywhere else in their food section, like Fluff or bacon chocolate candy bars. Prices on wine are always good as well as their large selection of bottled waters, including mineral and sparkling waters.

  • sharon lamkin

Kind of high, but different, in gifts, or just what u may be looking for for holidays on gifts. If u can't find in stores, may be from magazine orders in the Heights, off Tales across Walmarts. Just went in to look around. Food was some what different. Did buy some taste d great. Might have to go back again.

  • Andre Moraes

SCAM beware most of the food items on discount the cashier don't process them with the 55% discount barcode, I guess they use the regular barcode, so things that you bought to try given the discount price, you end up paying the full price that it's more likely more expensive at full price vs. other stores

  • Z Malek

Customer service here is weird, came for Nuri and they ran out, which is fine. I don’t really feel welcomed there as a Brown dude with tattoos. Girl in back gave me one word answer like I was wrong for asking two questions. Cashier was super friendly though. I’ll just order my Nuri online from now on.

  • Brent Bolin

Everytime I go in to this store I buy food items. And I get home and now I am looking what I bought. Let me tell you I buy some weird food I never eaten before . So going into this store I say its adventure. Like BBQ crickets. Crazy looking candys. I will be back. Can't wait for the next adventure.

  • Anthony Terrando

I first thought this is just another souvenir shop near tourists spots but it turns out I was wrong. Great and surprising interesting place for gift shopping. They have all kinds of collection for fragrance, foods, and kitchen stuff. I’m very happy to know this place.

  • f f

Went here a few days before Christmas, it's a very neat store with candies & snacks from all over the world and nice gifting items. The selection was a bit picked over but since it was before Christmas I'm guessing they dont get new shipments everyday.

  • Julia Jackson

Waste of time! Took over an hour for 3 employees to realize we couldn't return our online item in store. What kind of store doesnt accept their own items!!!??? They only had 2 cashiers working and had tons of people in line. Never going back.

  • N Maharaj

I periodically come here and I can say that I'm always disappointed. The place generally seems to be in disarray, many times with unstocked shelves. The last time I stood in a line of 8 customers while there was a single person at checkout.

  • Kim Hatton

It is a neat place for a variation of considerations on purchases and interesting buys. Budgeting is a good idea, store tour, buy 1or 2 things. Select items for gifts throughout the year or special times. Interesting foods and chocolates.

These guys sell a rather eclectic mix of stuff, but I go here for their selection of British snacks. I usually come away with a bunch of other (usually foreign) bad-for-me food items and wine. So overall, pretty good!

I was never greeted. But the store sells itself. The inventory. Great gifts. Cute things. Easter knick knacks, candy, chocolate. So I did enjoy my visit. Inventory looked low but it could be bc covid times.
