My experience with the Enterprise 85th Greenwood location had been fine until this week. 5 months back my car was hit by a lady and her Farmer’s insurance was covering my rental car cost. Per the Rental Agreement with Enterprise, I was named as the Renter and Farmers Insurance was the Bill To Account. My car took over 3 months to repair due to COVID supply chain issues with spare parts. I was able to finally pick it up and the rental car was returned last November. During the time I had the rental car, three events occurred demonstrating poor service: 1) Enterprise Rental Car had Expired License Tabs: The tabs expired at the end of August and I received a violation while parked in downtown Seattle. I am extremely busy, my wife and I both work, and we have 3 children including a 3-year old. I called the 85th Enterprise branch requesting they send new tabs in the mail. They told me I had to come to the branch to place in on the plates. Nobody offered to come to my residence and add the tab to the plates, thus I had to drive up there to have it done during a busy workday. 2) Enterprise Rental Car had Bald Tires: The KIA Sorrento SUV rental car had bald tires. On dry pavement, the car repeatedly skidded out and much to my kids amusement “burned rubber”. During the rainy season, it was a hazard and not safe to drive. My wife refused to drive it. Again, I called the 85th Enterprise branch and informed them the tires were shot. They told me I could come and swap it out in a couple of days when there was more inventory. Again, we are working parents with 3 kids - nobody offered to come and deliver a substitute car to my residence. 3) Enterprise made a $1,365 Fraudulent Charge to my Credit Card. While my car was being repaired, I had an open reservation with Enterprise – i.e. a reservation until my car repairs were completed and then the rental car would be due to return. I was told this repeatedly by the agents at the 85th branch, including the manager Olivia. Since it was Farmer’s responsibility to pay, I was assured my credit card on file would not be charged. Therefore, when the most recent extended reservation had expired on October 22nd, I was told by Enterprise not to worry and the adjuster would just need to call in and extend the contract. This had happened in September as well - after I called the Farmers adjuster, the adjuster called Enterprise and took care of it. The Farmers adjusters, like most adjusters, have been poor communicators and I know Enterprise had reached out to get a status on their bill and my car repair as recently as this as November 11 (just before my car was ready and the rental was returned.) However, the Enterprise manager Olivia called and left a voice message last week Tuesday, February 22 (3 months after the car had been returned) that my credit card would be charged $1,365 and I would need to seek reimbursement from Farmers Insurance because the outstanding balance owed by Farmer’s had not been paid. Farmers is still awaiting information from the auto shop to approve the claim. Rather than requesting and waiting for this information. I called Olivia back and she shared that all this had been escalated to managers at Farmers and Enterprise but they were still unable to get Farmers to pay the outstanding balance. This was a lie. It became very clear when I contacted Farmers Insurance and spoke with the adjuster that they were merely still waiting for information from the repair shop to approve the claim and pay the balance. This was all news to me. I had no idea that in the last 3 months there was still an outstanding balance that Enterprise was going to charge me for. On Wednesday, February 23, Olivia and Enterprise proceeded with the $1,365 fraudulent charge to my credit card that is owed by Farmers Insurance.

Enterprise Greenwood promptly contacted me to confirm my rental car after I scheduled my repair through Geico. They ensured the car would be ready on my appointment date/time at the auto body shop. However, being an Emerald Club Executive member with extensive experience with car rental companies, I was unsatisfied with the pickup and drop-off process. The auto body shop contacted Enterprise Greenwood immediately after I showed up for my appointment. However, Enterprise Greenwood did not bring my car to the auto body shop until 45 minutes after my appointment time. Another customer who had an appointment 20 minutes after me had her rental car delivered before me. An Enterprise representative showed up 30 minutes after my appointment time at the body shop, however, she was unsure if the rental car was meant for me or for the customer who had her appointment time after me. The Enterprise representative called her manager, who confirmed the car was actually for the other customer and that another representative would bring my car over. This is unacceptable because Enterprise Greenwood (1) initially confirmed my car would be ready at my appointment time/date 2.5 weeks prior, (2) my auto body shop had called Enterprise the moment I arrived for my appointment, (3) the first Enterprise representative who was sent over had no idea which customer the car she brought over was for, and (4) the car the first representative brought over was for the customer who had an appointment time 20 minutes after me (the customer showed up after I did). The pickup experience was disorganized and chaotic. Furthermore, the drop-off process failed to meet expectations. I arrived to my body shop on a Friday at 4:30pm after repairs were complete. I called Enterprise Greenwood, asking for someone to pick up my rental car from the body shop. The assistant manager (Amanda?) at Enterprise informed me they close at 5pm and did not have staff available to pick up the rental car. The body shop is only a 7 minute drive from Enterprise Greenwood, so I asked if I could drive over to Enterprise, drop the rental car off, and then have them shuttle me back to the auto body shop. The assistant manager refused, saying “it is a Friday afternoon and we cannot do that. Everyone is getting ready to go home.” This whole process would have been completed before 5pm, but the assistant manager adamantly refused. She implied her staff were going home early because it was a Friday. [When I initially picked up the rental car, the Enterprise representative presented me with the option of dropping off the rental car at Enterprise and being shuttled back to the auto body shop if I arrived anytime before 4:45pm.] The assistant manager said the auto body shop is an authorized drop-off location. She instructed me to drop off my car there and that someone would pick up the car the following Monday. However, she informed me that I would still be held fully liable and financially responsible for any damage that occurs between the time I drop off my vehicle and the time it is picked up by Enterprise on Monday. This is unacceptable. How can I be responsible for damage that occurs when the car has already been returned to an authorized drop-off location and when Enterprise Greenwood refused to accept return of the car at their actual location because the staff wanted to “have an early Friday off?” I tried everything to return the rental car directly to Enterprise Greenwood, but was met with resistance because the staff didn't want to work until 5pm on a Friday. I give this place 2 stars only because the rental car I got was clean and a nice car. Otherwise, the pickup and drop-off experiences were below expectation and created unnecessary stress.

Edit: an hour after I posted this review, Enterprise fixed the charges on my rental. So that's good and appreciated... but I shouldn't have to write a review to be billed fairly. Up until now, I generally tried to rent from Enterprise, even when it cost a little bit more than the competitors, because I thought their service was better and they weren't trying to extract every last dollar from you in fees. Not anymore - I had two issues when I rented from Enterprise in August: 1- I reserved a small SUV ahead of time online, we specifically were looking for SUV's to allow for extra space for our trip. When I showed up to pick up the car, they told me they didn't have any SUV's available. Zero advance warning, and I had to cram our things into a sedan for a road trip. It worked out ok, but it's not what they sold me when I reserved the car. 2- Enterprise over-charged me and then lied to me about refunding the overcharge. We had the car for 10 days. 8 days into the trip, I stopped in to an Enterprise location to add a second driver to the agreement (for the last two days). The agent told me there would only be two days of "additional driver" fees. However after I returned the car, I received my receipt via email and noticed I was charged for 10 days of additional driver fees ($100). I called the Enterprise office where I rented the car from, and the person I spoke to said that I should only be charged for two days, but needed to talk to a manager to make the fix, and that they would take care of the refund and email me my new receipt. That was a week ago, still no refund and no follow up. I feel like Enterprise not only pulled a bait and switch on me with the car I rented, but then unfairly charged me additional fees, effectively cheating me out of $80, and is now refusing to make things right. To be clear, all the employees I dealt with were respectful and trying to do the right thing, but it seems the Enterprise company/system is making that hard to do and is now simply trying to maximize profit at the expense of customer service.

I've rented a fair handful of cars, and I'm always struck by how variable the experience can be. A lot of industries are pretty homogeneous. I'm not a big "brand loyalty" type. Lowe's or Home Depot? Who cares? Safeway or QFC? Safeway's interior design makes me want to fill my pockets with gravel and walk into the sea, but aside from that, what's the difference? O'Reilly's or Advanced? Shoot me now so I don't have to deal with either. This ambivalence does not extend to car rentals. By previous employer mandate, I've rented from Hertz multiple times, and the previous gravel comment applies in the extreme. Every Hertz I've been to is dilapidated, hostile, and feels more like a front for the mafia than a legitimate rental agency. Budget's better, but that's really because cheerful disorganization is better than overt indifference. And that brings me to one of the few times when I've become brand loyal. Enterprise is the only car rental company that's consistently had the car I reserved when I reserved it in buildings that have never once felt like biohazards -- not something I can say about Hertz, far from it, in fact. All of Enterprise's people are professional, organized, and efficient. Many of them are funny to boot. Grace helped me at this particular location, and working with her was the definition of ease. Brand loyalty isn't usually all that warranted in my experience, but when it comes to car rentals, I do actually feel like Enterprise has become my go-to. Big ol' thumbs up.

Subpar quality compared to other Enterprises I've been to in terms of billing, the most important part. This was an insurance pick up. There was a clerical error in the paperwork on Enterprise's side in which they took the estimated repair DAYS to be estimated MANHOURS. Big difference, by say, a factor of 24. When I heard that I was being charged more than half of the value rental, I immediately protested. The "very helpful" lady (about midway through the ranks in terms of experience and authority) decided to take a "F U" attitude to my issue and simply claim that "we go off of whatever the computer says". Terrible customer service in that sense, what if the customer was in a financial bind? I realize it isn't the Enterprise employee's money or Enterprise's money, but its the customer's money and that should be important to Enterprise and to Enterprise's employee. Otherwise, I highly recommend the branch for its spectacular constellation of new employees and interns. Their attitude and customer service in driving me to and from the shop was excellent and to be commended. But all that pales to screwing with the customer's money and then not caring about the customer's money. An honest mistake is not damning. Not caring about an honest mistake is however, damning. Hopefully, that particular employee gets either corrected or turned-over. Not everyone looks carefully at the bill and I don't want anyone else potentially screwed over.

This is my first time ever renting a car and I am so happy with my experience at this Enterprise! My car, a minivan, was stolen last week and my insurance will only be covering $30 a day for a rental car. I can't afford to pay more than that, especially since I might be buying a new car, so I went in thinking I would get stuck with a tiny car. Collin at Enterprise was very sympathetic and arranged to get me the same kind of minivan at their normal compact price. They said it was because they have a bunch of extra minivans after the holidays, but he did not have to go the extra mile and help me out like that. I have been super stressed and bummed out since my car was stolen, and I literally almost cried because I was so thankful for the kind gesture. I truly did not think I would get something as big as a van, and to have access to the same cargo space that I am used to, plus a familiar car, is huge. This was the first piece of good news that I have gotten since the incident. Collin really went above and beyond, I will not forget it and will use them again in the future (though hopefully not for the same reason ).

Very disturbing. I have rented a lot of cars in my lifetime and NEVER have experienced anything like this! When I arrived there were only 2 cars on the lot. I was concerned the car I rented was a bit large for my compact indoor parking space, but they said I could trade it for a smaller car the next day. When I went back the next day to swap, an employee immediately accused me of denting the car! I assure you (as I assured him) I did NOT dent the car (but I also did not notice that damage when we did the initial walk-around). We were at a standoff - the employee insisting I dented the car, me insisting I did not. I went outside & took a walk, called my husband, called my insurance company and tried to figure out how to proceed. When I walked back into the shop about 10 minutes later, another employee mumbled something like, “you’re good; car was like that.” What the heck?! No apology, nothing?! They put me in a smaller car and I drove away, but... that was a VERY disturbing and unpleasant experience. I will NEVER rent at this branch again.

I rented a truck here for my work and had so many problems from start to finish with my rental. First, the car they gave us had expired tabs (5 months expired) and we got a ticket immediately. They did pay for the ticket, but it was a pain for me to go back to get that resolved. Also, I needed to change a driver name after making the reservation and they only changed the first name, so it was listed under a name that didn't exist. This was a HUGE liability issue. I called SEVERAL times to get this resolved and while employees urged me it was fixed, my receipt is still under the wrong name. They did not record damage before giving us the car and tried to charge me with damage that had already been there. At the end, they tried to charge my card at the wrong rate, $300 over my listed agreement. Overall, I am very disappointed with this rental experience. Employees were patient/professional with me on the phone, but NEVER solved my problems and ultimately caused more problems

I always rent from this branch when I'm in Seattle. Love the new Greenwood location with the easier parking lot. Friendly and professional staff went above and beyond during a busy Christmas season when there was an unusual run on SUVs (agency-wide and all over the city!), and they managed to get me an upgrade at the last minute, which seemed like an impossible feat. They honored my loyalty points on the new rental and gave me a fair rate for the upgrade. I was impressed by the entire staff's calm and professional demeanor in an unusually busy waiting room with phones ringing off the hook. I appreciated that the manager (Christine?) kept checking in with me and assuring me my car was on the way. Which it was. Great customer service and professionalism. Thank you!

Car I rented was super clean. Agent did a walk around with me before I left the lot to inspect the car - nice!. I'd never had that in previous rental experiences which would have been nearly all from airport lots. Gas tank was 5/8ths full upon rental and I was instructed to bring it back at that same level. Kinda odd, and annoying to not start with a full tank. Kinda odd that the speedometer dial and digital read out both had only miles and not km. KM would have been helpful as we drove up into Canada. Tires were OK, but not as good of traction on snow as my own car at home in another city. Upon returning the car after hours, we found the parking lot full and didn't know where to put it. Some signage would have been helpful.

The engine light turned on the dashboard within hours of picking up the rental vehicle. I immediately called Enterprise to ask to exchange for a new vehicle, but they told me that I didn't need to and to ignore the signal. Two days later, the battery died with multiple warnings on the dashboard. I called Enterprise roadside assistance and they sent AAA to recoup the battery, but that was clearly not the only issue with the vehicle that needed maitenance. The next day, I went back to Enterprise to exchange vehicles. Upon returning the (second) car, I was charged for the roadside assistance and Enterprise refused to pay. I will not be using Enterprise again.

  • Sylvain SIMON

Terrible experience here -- we've been renting very frequently in the past two years and it was fine so far. But we picked up a car for the weekend (with a strong smell of tobacco but that's just another problem) and returned it after hours on sunday night as many times before. Everything was ok until i got charged 500usd the day after for a supposed small dent on the car -- they didnt even produced any document, return rental agreement or pictures to describe anything but yet they charged us 500usd... No way to contest the claim as it "already went through" -- just totally unprofessional and so poor of a customer service.

Our experience with Enterprise, both in the US and abroad, has been uniformly positive: good cars in great shape with friendly and helpful personnel. Here in Seattle was no exception. Everyone was attentive to our needs and situation. Everyone was warm and outgoing and even knew our names when we walked in the door. We had to exchange our car during our rental ( because our original had been inexplicably sold), and the staff handled the circumstances with concern, ease, and accommodation. Fast, focused on detail, professional. Love to rent from these guys!

  • sam m

I rent a car recently from Enterprise in Ballard, seattle. It was a very pleasant experience. I had one employee took the time to walk us to the car. She went over the details. She reviewed the charges so We could understand how they add up to final price. We were even offered a ride back home , when We returned the car. That was a nice touch. We preferred to walk back to our place , but I appreciated the offer. The price of rental was reasonable compare to other rental companies.over all, that was a great experience. I will use this company in future.

  • Terra Hakam

My experience picking up the car and working with the morning staff was great. Both Women I interacted with were friendly, kind, and quick. My major complaint is that they charged me for 2 gallons of gas after words. That seems very subjective. When I took the car it was on slightly less then 1/4 tank. I paid for a full tank of gas and returned it at 1/4 tank according to my eye. It was exactly where it was when I picked the car up. They shouldn't have charged me for 2 gallons. It's stingy and completely subjective.

  • Zach W

The staff were very helpful, even helping me measure the rental car to see if it would fit in my garage. The car I got was in good condition and very clean. Covid precautions were observed at all times - we never even went inside the office to do business. I was a little disappointed at the pressure to accept extra insurance on the car, but it is what it is - if you rent here, be sure of what your own insurance covers and how hard it is to make a claim so you know in advance what extra insurance you need (if any)

  • Renee Jones

Great experience! I ordered a car in advance, and when I showed up we found a great car for my needs. They were very helpful, fast, and cheerful. The car was cleaned well. There were no strange smells or anything else off about the car. They were efficient and careful of the time we spent there when dropping off the car as well. I really liked my experience there as I felt well cared for and valued. When on a trip away from home with my family, this is exactly the comfort I needed!

  • Jerry Y

Amanda is extremely professional, courteous and knowledgeable. She is also very pleasant and genuine, both over the phone & in person. She is the type of person anyone would want on their client-interfacing team in any industry. Prob the best rent a car customer service I have experienced in my life. Lucas was also very pleasant and detailed oriented. They make a great team. Enterprise is lucky to have such great employees

  • Michael Kunz

I had a great experience with Enterprise and can highly recommend this branch. After hitting a curb on the road we were surprised to find that there was no spare tire in the car. Since our rental agreement did not cover road side assistance we thought we will have to pay for being picked up by AAA. We were very happy when Enterprise offered to pay for all the costs due to the missing tire. Great client service.

  • Jeff Maxwell

Staff is super nice, patient and easy to work with. Just a big reminder, bring a pay stub and a current bill to help prove your identity. Also, when paying with a debit card make sure you respond to any fraud alerts from your bank right away. If your card is declined in there system they won't be able to run it again for another 24 hours. The car is very clean and drives nicely. We are happy with this rental!

  • Jonathan Betz-Zall

Rental process was quick and efficient. The vehicle was in great condition. But I won't use the "let us pick" option again. I was offered a large pickup truck when it was raining and I needed to keep my cargo dry. Changing the reservation would have cost $10, so I made do with the truck. Raising my rating to outstanding--on a later occasion we specified the vehicle we wanted and had a very good experience.

  • Darlene Bush-Henderson

Great experience from time of booking to closing the rental. The follow up was great. I especially appreciated the actions taken to ensure my safety as related to COVID-19 during transportation to pick up the rental. The agent that assisted me when picking up first vehicle and when swapping vehicles due to the original vehicle needing oil change was superb! Thank you!

  • Kristy

The entire team at Enterprise Greenwood took great care of me following the aftermath of my car being totaled. Words cannot express how much I appreciated this team’s kindness, patience, flexibility, and customer centered approach. They went above and beyond to ensure that I was well taken care of during a difficult time and I will forever be grateful for that.

  • Ruslan Savchenko

Booked the car on international license. When arrived the receptionist refused to provide a car on debit card and didn’t call us before to confirm the booking. She said they can’t call to the international number. Why do they ask for a phone number then during booking? As result we wasted time and money. If you are coming overseas avoid this company.

  • Courtney B

The staff at enterprise are always the nicest but frankly I have the worst experiences with enterprise when I drive away. My cars always smell like smoke. No joke has happened in 6 different cars over 4 different locations across Seattle. I also think the minute they realize they can’t upsell the insurance to you their attitudes change drastically.

  • Sia Puloka

It was fantastic! Everything went quickly and easy. I loved my car and the convenience of Sunday return to a setup drop off. Staffs are friendly and efficient! I recommend this Ballard station for the folks at the North end and not driving to SeaTac Airport for a rental car....also the rate was better than most other rental agencies.

  • Sheen Hunter (#SheenTV! #SeattleFreeze)

I have gone to every single location of Enterprise around the Seattle area for years now and this new location is just as great as the other ones. I love the employees and the option of vehicles. I enjoyed taking advantage of the fact that you can return a car after hours and not have to worry about being there at a specific time.

  • Erica Mason

Convenient and didn't feel like they were trying to up sell me on anything, which was great. Convenient location close to a friend's house. Great price. We got a surprise vehicle, which was really fun! Was the choice between a mini van or truck. Being from Texas, we chose the truck . Would definitely rent from them again …

  • Andrew Cornish

I rent from the GREENWOOD location whenever I am having work done on my car. Great location, great crew, and great rates. I am an ENTERPRISE MEMBER, and do get the best rates available. I can not single out one individual, all the staff are excellent and go out of their way to make it happen in a timely manner. Drew

  • Justin Hackworth

Enterprise has always treated me right. That is why I always come back when I need a rental. My truck took a little more time to get repaired than I thought and enterprise was very accommodating with extending my rental. Though summer prices are a little higher it is well worth it. Thank you enterprise employees!

  • Charles Chan

Awesome experience working with Alex. Guy was extremely professional yet also personable. Very informative and helpful. Being in a car accident and having to go through the inconvenience of repairs, etc. sucks! But Alex showed that light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks, Alex! Enterprise, give this dude a raise.

  • Craig Simpson

I had a good experience renting from Enterprise. Good car, fair rates, and they stayed in contact with my insurance company and body shop, so I didn't have to keep calling to extend another day or two. They pick you up when you rent the car and take you back to the shop when the rental is done. So easy.

  • Pirate Chuck

I would like to thank your crew over there. Picking us up at the marina with short notice and renting us the car twice took alot of stress out of our yacht repair fiasco. Your customer service is awesome. When we return for more boat yard work we will be sure to use your service. Again Thank You!!

  • Macee Utecht

Had a really great experience here! Super nice people. Dropped my Jeep off at the repair shop in Ballard and these guys had a car waiting for me at the shop to pick up directly. Returning the car was easy too. Overall would definitely use this service again (but hopefully I won’t need to)!

  • Susan

Although this is a relatively small location, the service more than makes up for it. Allyson and Tristan were very knowledgeable, personable, and customer focused. They took great care of me and were very understanding. I would definitely rent a vehicle at this location again.

  • Anna

I have good experiences with Enterprise 100% of the time, so I only rent through them if I can help it.. The enterprise greenwood location is no exception. Staff is always friendly and helpful. They call me to keep me updated on my rentals and have been very accommodating.

  • Jeramiah Crosier

This is a good Enterprise location. They have limited room and thus a limited stock of cars. If you can be flexible, you can easily get something with a reasonable notice. It is super convenient to have this in our area of the city. The staff is helpful and nice.

  • Kaitlin Flynn

Bless this Enterprise location! I had an extremely frustrating experience with an insurance-mandated repair shop and ended up having to use a rental for 3 weeks. The team at this location was incredibly sympathetic, speedy, and helpful, unlike the repair place!

Sarah is very professional. I am glad we chose this place over Hertz! We reserved a car and they ended up not having it but gave us another one to fit our needs. Very pleased with the service.

The staff where polite and efficient. However, I reserved a full size car and they only had a compact. I was charged the same price and not offered and upgrade when one became availible.

Jojo got me a great rental with no hassle, and they offered to drop me off at home when I return it! The car is in wonderful shape, and that got me a rental same day.
