Personally, I wanted to put a half of star, but it wasn't an option. Unfortunately, my brother passed away 4 months ago. It has taken this long for me to post and share the experience that my family and I shared by choosing Mothe's to provide services for my brother because I am still traumatized from the experience . My brother was being cremated, but we decided to have what Mothe's offered as 2 hour services. Rather than having his body cremated prior to the services, Mothe's Funeral Home had my brothers decomposed body in a (what appeared to be) a fabric covered cardboard box (which they charged an additional $1,000for) that wasn't secured shut. They placed lime packets in the box to try covering up the smell, which only made it worse. The lack of empathy/sympathy for family members was unbelievable. The lack of dignity and respect for my brother, so very painful to think of. It was such an unbearable time of grief that Mothe's only added humilition and rage too. There were no refreshments provided. The housekeeper was the greeter. The "director" only showed her face once only to say that there was 30 min left for visitation. My family had to manage the strength to put in all the work that the funeral home would usually provide. These people prey on the vulnerable and everything is about the money. In my opinion, they need some serious renovations done or a bulldozer would do an even better job. I truly wish that I could say that even one person at Mothe's displayed some compassion and decency toward my family and the grieving and I honesty can't. The deceased deserves so much more dignity and respect than this place displayed, especially my young and beautiful brother ;( !!! I can only hope and pray that anyone considering paying this place to provide services for a loved one to reconsider because they offer nothing but a horrible experience and an open hand for the money that they overly charge for their lack of services. I met thenowner Bo when I was with my mother when she went to make the payment and he was more than accommodating when it came to taking the money and quite frankly seemed like a sensitive and caring man, but he assured my Mom that my brothers ashes would be present, but instead we were mortified to get there and his decomposed body was in that cardboard box and the smell was awful. People please, believe me when I say that this is not something easy to share, but I feel is more than necessary. I hope and pray for a better experience for anyone out there that has lost a loved one. This place was disappointing on every level. God Bless
They are sales people who take advantage of people in a vulnerable state. My grandmother & mother paid $6000 to have him cremated with a 2 hour visitation (no coffee or refreshments provided). He was in a body bag decomposed in that casket where the smell was overwhelming that even the lime could not mask it. This is unfortunate that my uncle, while his soul was gone, had to be displayed with a wooden box covered in material from 1980’s. I hope they never lose someone so close to them personally but if they do I hope they are treated with the same lack of dignity. You would not believe this but the housekeeper is the greeter according to the owner. We were robbed of a life so dear to my family and now a funeral home that was trusted robbed of us the little money we had. Finally, the “Funeral Director” was only visible to let us know the Priest would be there by 3p and that was 2:30p. Pick any place but this place. To think my great grandfather grew up with the Mothe’s family and even bought the house they raised their children in. Shame on them; FYI call around for cremation ceremonies some places are half the price and no one was near the the cost of Mothe’s. We were not allowed to play our own slide show unless we paid $200 or his play list as the music without paying $75. Everyone deserves in their death to be treated with dignity.
Mothe Funeral Homes professionalism, care, and guidance in assisting my family during our time of need was exceptional. Everything was explained in detail, expenses were clearly portrayed, as well as; optionality in caskets, timeframe for services, and the different packages for the church arrangement. As I understand, the family has been assisting families at a time of need for 150 years. The many funeral services they have completed for thousands of families has offered their service area a great family owned option (vs. a disconnected large corporation) in offering a hands on touch in proving respect and dignity to your deceased loved one. I felt fortunate to have a family owned option, as many funeral homes are now these large corporations. Overall, the service for my father, was flawlessly carried out. Knowing the many steps it took to achieve that level of satisfaction, with clear communication; Mothe Funeral Homes will be able to provide your family with the same level of dignity.
Total lack of dignity for my loved one. Owner / representative prey on folks during this most vulnerable time just as they have preyed on those on the Westbank of New Orleans for decades. I understand everyone has to make a living but you don’t have to make everything possible off of every family especially when you were chosen because of a “previous” solid reputation. Don’t take that for granted. We didn’t shop around because of the previous reputation for we will always regret that but $5,746 for cremation, showing WITH decaying body in wooden box which I’m sure is reused even though you pay almost $1,000 just for that box. There was so much wrong I can’t even explain it all. The smell of decaying body filled the room as family and friends came to pay their respects. Clients used to be treated better when the founder started this company. It’s a shame his decedents make it simply about the money now. Shame on them. I will share this experience with everyone I know in New Orleans.
Everyone at Mothe Funeral Homes was very professional and caring during our family’s time of need. Boyd did a great job of helping us think of everything we needed to make our dad’s service special. Mr. Ed and Cindy helped us during his service with anything we needed. Mr. Barry did an exceptional job of getting us through the service and internment. Our drivers were so kind and helpful also. Mr. Kirk went above and beyond to help us with getting paperwork we needed completed. He is an angel. For many years our family has used Mothe and when the need arises, we will be back. Highly recommend.
This was my 2nd time using Mothe for funeral services and I know it’s not the type of thing nobody wants to have to do but I highly recommend Mothe. From the owners to the directors to the ladies in white they are amazing and helpful in every way! They go above to accommodate your needs!
Our family has used Mothe Funeral Homes for generations. We have always had exceptional service. Mothe Funeral Homes is like family to us. Keep up the good work.
Kirk is the best funeral director. He made my sister and I feel at ease and helped make thee arrangements for my dad so much easier.
Kirk Mabile was so kind to our family
