This is a very late review! Ive been to Brut many Fridays, it is such a great place to catch up with friends and have a glass of wine. Pearse very kindly planned a small group wine tasting for me and my work colleagues at the end of May. Pearse was so lovely to deal with and this resulted in a fantastic evening! We did a tasting of 7 wines and they were all different to your usual malbec, pinot grigio. It was great to try differnet things and Pearse gave us an education on wine making but also gave us tips on storing wine and how to pick a good bottle in a restaurant and not get ripped off! We also had some lovely nibbles with our wine. Brut is such a gem and if you're around Drumcondra on a Friday night you should 100% drop in!

Hi there. I'm a student from Dorset College, in the same building, and my break time is usually between 11am and 12pm. But the breakfast menu finishes at 11 and the lunch menu starts at 12. So all the students have to go somewhere else to eat, because the Café doesn't serve any food on our lunch time. It's actually not a complain, it's more like an advise, cause we could be spending money here in this Cafe which is much more easy for us to access than having to go somewhere else. By the way the food is delicious. I'm not usually impressed by food, but I have to say that the chicken sandwich I had here was sooooo amazing. I could easily say it's the best chicken sandwich I ever had.

Popped in for what turned out to be an excellent cup of coffee and a tea pot of excellent tea (and china cup & saucer - bravo!) Home made cake - chocolate straw for me and a banana & poached pear sponge cake for my companion. She loved it. Bit of a sentimental journey for her as we were sat enjoying this in the former sacristy of the one time Sacred Heart Children’s Home… We found the food & drink to be reasonably priced - especially for Dublin - so surprised by the ‘pricey’ comment below.

Came yesterday hoping for some food as a friend recommended. Unfortunately they don't serve food on Sunday, but lovely young woman working was very friendly and welcoming . Delicious coffee and nice decor inside. Hopefully I will be back to Nellys for some breakfast when the time comes! Thankyou .

A DIY, independent atmosphere with a solid, compact breakfast/lunch menu. French toast, their fry and dessert options are all delicious. Every suburb of Dublin needs a great little cafe like Nelly's for a weekend sitdown. Also has tables out in the sun for those rare, treasured days.

Great food, great service and the most amazing staff. It was so good to see 2 of my students who are visually impaired being guided out to the footpath by 2 members of staff, with great care and attention. Can't say enough, great spot. 100%

Nice, quirky spot for a snack or light lunch. A few niggles though; staff handling food need better hygene awareness (hair nets would be a good start), pastries a bit hit-and-miss. Still, a pleasant place and I will visit again.

Had lunch there, pasta salad and coffee with a cinnamon bun. Very nice lunch/coffee spot in a small oasis next to the busy Drumcondra Road. Only the tables and some of the cutlery weren’t totally clean… I’ll be back!

  • Ciarán Reinhardt

a great little local spot that does fabulous sandwiches / lunch! the menu changes regularly, so it’s always interesting. probably the best lunch option around

Gave us a giant teapot with only a third filled with water. Brought us the wrong item for breakfast and made no apology to discount or refund for their mistake. Food was only ok. Definitely nicer spots around.

Could be oh so much better, woke staff need to realise customers are more important than their staff colleagues. Too much staff chat and flirting.

Fantastic spot for coffee/lunch, especially kind to vegetarians. Salads are tasty and innovative and the place is full of old world character. Staff are wonderful too. Eat here!

Good quality breakfast I had, portions are massive, and I'm 6'7" 19 stone. Small and quaint with outside seating. Staff friendly, and prices are reasonable …

Best veggie sandwich I’ve had in a good while. Delicious bread and finally something creative and tasty (instead of the usual mozzarella and pesto filling)
