“Newsham Park and Gardens is a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Liverpool. As an avid nature lover, visiting this park was a delightful experience that left me with a renewed appreciation for the beauty of outdoor spaces. The first thing that struck me was the park’s expansive greenery. The well-manicured lawns, vibrant flower beds, and towering trees create a picturesque landscape that invites visitors to unwind and connect with nature. The park’s peaceful ambiance provides a much-needed escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. One of the highlights of Newsham Park and Gardens is its diverse range of recreational activities. From leisurely strolls and picnics to jogging and cycling, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The well-maintained paths and trails make it easy to explore the park and discover its hidden corners. The park’s central lake adds to its charm. The tranquil water, dotted with elegant swans and ducks, offers a serene setting for reflection and relaxation. It’s a perfect spot to sit back, unwind, and appreciate the serenity of nature. Newsham Park and Gardens also boasts impressive amenities for visitors. The well-placed benches and picnic areas provide ample seating options, allowing visitors to take a break and enjoy their surroundings. Additionally, the children’s play areas are thoughtfully designed, offering a safe and engaging space for young ones to play and have fun. Another notable feature of the park is its historical significance. The iconic Newsham Park Hospital, with its distinctive architecture, adds a touch of grandeur to the surroundings. It’s fascinating to explore the park’s history and discover the stories behind its landmarks. The park is also known for hosting various events and activities throughout the year, ranging from community festivals to live performances. These events add vibrancy and a sense of community, making Newsham Park and Gardens a gathering place for people of all ages and interests. In summary, Newsham Park and Gardens is a true gem in Liverpool. Its serene atmosphere, well-maintained grounds, and diverse recreational opportunities make it a haven for nature enthusiasts and a perfect place to escape the urban routine. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful retreat, a leisurely walk, or a family outing, this park is definitely worth a visit.”

Visited today as a little detour to going back to Sefton Park. Newsham Park looks lovely when you turn off the main road and pass the old derelict hospital. Parked up near the cafeteria and infront of the skatepark. Lovely big parkland that consisted of a skatepark, a big play area with swings and slides etc and certainly big enough for ball games. The first lake is a nice one, the water is clear and apart from the greenery in it you can see a lot in there. Some access is strangly blicked off but the you get a 'style' to climb over instead of a gate... Not good for the older generation to be honest. Walked on towards the 'big ' lake and it certainly is that. It has a fountain in it and a walkable bridge that splits it in 2. There is so much green algae in it and its a shame as this lake could be stunning. Walking to the far side of it you begin to realise you haven't found ANY benches that actually face the sun.... None of them! Who is responsible for the sun ray check??? When you do find a embankment to sit on, the geese decide you are fair game . It's a nice, big, lovely park but not a big enough pull to visit again unfortunately. The big plus for this park is the assesibility from town, and a big play area. Perfect for families

Well we did not have the best of weather. .the two lakes are nice with loads of buck etc to feed . Well worth a walk round . There are benches to sit on and have a chill. There not that clean so we took a towel to sit on. There is a cafe in the park where there is coffee and some snacks which has a small amount of cover in the rain.there is swing area for the kids and it's not hard to lark cars round there .looks like there is two crown bowling greens and of course there is football pitchers. On the down side there is only about 4 or 5 tables at the cafe which we where gratefully to see open .No inside area to sit in.we had are small dog with us on a lead . The main thing we did not like was there was a lot of other dog owners that did not have there dogs on a lead.they had not respect for any one that might be worried about being confronted by there dogs running over to them uninvited .We had nice pictures but this is are lasting memory of the park .. these dogs .. !!! Which is a shame .

It's a nice little park with a gated play area for the little ones and then another further on for the older ones. However, a few of the things such as the zip wire have been cut off. Theres plenty of open space for picnics and games such as football, a pond to walk around and feed the ducks aswell as go fishing if you enjoy that, a cafe and ramps where the children enjoy watching people on their skateboards or scooters. Sadly, this park is known for some crime and has been in local papers due to this. During the day though there has always been plenty of people and I have never seen anything untoward.

Photos look really nice. Easy to park. Lots of grass for dogs and kids to run. Lots of new trees planted. Broken glass on grass and pathways. Empty alcohol cans and bottles and take away food containers and sweet wrappers. Couple of litter bins melted after being set alight. Dog poop left on field and paths. Nature looked beautiful. And you can see it must have looked beautiful in the early turn of the century. The local houses are big 3floor houses. I would say this was an open green area ideal for taking your dog walkies if you live local. With lovely trees and blue skies. Just keep looking up.

  • Scott Ellams

The settings has so much potential, but didn't live up to it anyway. Was mire comedy than scary in the areas. But having to queue up for 45 mins for each one for a 5 min walk through that was really poor in scare wise was not good. It all started with the central area, not been set for the occassion decoratively or with a DJ who in the 2 hrs we were there only played scary themed tunes for about 10 mins. Definitely not worth the money. But could be so much better with a little bit more thought and effort.

Newsham park is a great park for just about anything, split into several sections there are football fields, fishing lakes, toy boating lake, plenty of gym stuff, wide open spaces, very old trees, a botanitcal garden (though this is maybe streching a little bit these days). Could do with a little bit of upkeep to some of the fences/railings. Dog heaven. Fingers crossed the abandonded hospital will turn into something positive soon.

  • C Hanson

A pretty nice park in general. Grass is green, squirrels the right level of friendly without being overbearing. Some ducks swimming about politely with a smile and pleasant disposition. The only point of improvement I would feed back to this park is that it was slightly windy on the day, making it a bit too cold to sit down in the grass. Hence four stars instead of five. Still, I will return. Keep up the good work, Newsham Park!

  • Shredder Chris

One of Liverpool's lovely parks, Newsham Park is looking better than it has done for years. As someone who grew up close to the park in the 1970's, its great to see it so well cared for these days, and being enjoyed by families, dog walkers, model boat guys, cyclists. There is also a great little coffee place in the park run by a couple of lovely ladies, worth visiting the park to support them alone!

  • Roma Tennant

Would have given it 4 stars only the simple reason is too much dog muck everywhere, broken glass on the grass nearby the rose garden and bits of tennis ball which is strewn across another part!! Why can't people bring a bag with them to put their dog's dirt in and either put the rubbish in the bins provided or take it home with them ??? Come to think of it I don't remember seeing any bins at all!!!

  • Sarah Douce

It's a beautiful park, the grass is well kept, there are plenty of dog bins, children's play parks, a skate park, several large ponds, many used for fishing, a bandstand, a small shop and an outdoor gym setup with a table tennis table. Police are often seen around the park to keep the peace and whilst there can be troublesome spots, these can be avoided by not going to the park late.

  • Elaine

Lovely expanse of open fields surrounding 3 beautiful lakes full of ducks geese and swans. The only thing that spoils this park area is the number of dogs exercised off- lead and witnessing many owners failing to exert control or pick up their dogs mess. Lovely children's park area and skate park for the older children. Small cafe and a few tables to have snacks. Highly recommended

  • Angel whisperer indigo child x

This park is a beautiful nature resort with plenty of outdoor space for children Fishing lakes and ponds A cafe for refreshments There are a few playground areas that could do with refurbishment. The only thing that spoils this park is, in my opinion, the rubbish bins always seem to be overflowing, and the council is not caring for the park as much as it's needed

  • John Bayly

Newsham Park is a beautiful place to spend time. Walking the dog is so pleasurable as there are so many friendly dog owners doing the same. It's also great for kids. There is the skateboard park that is home to scooters and bikes as well. There are the play areas and swings for the little kids and beautiful areas full of friendly people. Always a pleasure.

  • Anon Anon

LARGE park. Kids area. Scate board area. Lots of parking. Vendor hut. Great for social distancing. Squirrels very tame. Less than 1m close to them .. They're great. A park on other side to parking behind the vendor hut.. Huge fuel with football goal posts. Great for kids and adults alike.. .. The park I mean..... Well, maybe the squirrels too Enjoy!

  • Maxine Okpala

Nothing really special. It didn't give me the wow factor. There's a huge derelict building, which I think was an asylum. They use it for Spooky Tours and it's presence gives a eerie feel of doom and gloom. It needs renovating or pulling down. Plus, on the day we visited, the local police force were in the process of retrieving a gun from the lake.

  • Shell Yool

6 hour ghost hunt with 'Haunted Happenings' - 3 Group vigils, guided tour around the entire site & time allowed for individual vigils - very spooky place, although the spirits were supprisingly quiet the night we were there I felt like we were not alone as if we were being watched the while evening - look forward to another visit!

  • L333 H

I am sure it is a beautiful place to visit but as I was there later in the afternoon, it was unfortunately infested with mice and rats. Couldn't get near the bins as (being serious) we counted 10-15 rodents in it! I understand this is something that cannot always be avoided in a natural space but just wanted to make people aware.

  • J. T. McAndrew

Great park Skate park play areas fishing ponds fantastic for running and exercise. Love this park nice and relaxing. If you like old buildings look for the old asylum by the bowling green. Bandstand around the other side but neglected shame and another bowling green sadly also neglected. Some ok empty fields for golf practice.

  • Argos Catalogue

The park it's self is decent and for the most part clean. Plenty of fitness equipment to use and good paths for jogging. Has a small playground for kids and a small cafe at the far end of the park. However what really let's the park is the 2 lakes. They are both in poor condition and really need to be cleaned up.

  • Paul James

Quiet times are early morning. Can get quite busy with people with big dogs. Clearly a litter problem too, not everybody who uses the park looks after it which is a shame because it has a few good facilities such as a small cafe, a skate park, a children's area, health and fitness equipment and two pond areas.

  • Dave Brooks

It's a beautifully designed park which successfully creates a rural illusion of rolling hills and countryside. Sadly it could use some of the tender love and care lavished on South Liverpool's parks. A gem of a park which could use a bit of a polish. Worth a look just to see how well a park can be landscaped.

  • Ola Idriz

Is a very spacious park with a nice view and lots people’s visit every day but Nothing in the kids playground to play with. 1 baby swing,1 2years old slide, 1 5years old slide… with a lot of kids on them. I think that big park should have more kids stuff to play with than that very few stuff in there now

  • Natasha McKee

Had an absolutely amazing time in the scream park, some really good jump scares and amazing actors. Incredibly well organised and because of timed entry tickets, the most we waited in the queue on a Saturday night was 10minutes. We loved it so much we are going back again next week! Highly recommend it!

  • Gem Pearl

It was a beautiful view. Is so massive and tidy. It has a lovely lake and a great fountain. It has a fitness arena accessible for all. It has lovely ducks and swans. Nice Children play grounds with various age group. It will be so nice for Love once picnics. It really a beautiful experience.

  • Stephen Knight

I take my 6 yr old Grandson Jake to Newsham Park Skateboard Park most days he loves it...kids playground there and fishing lake and parkland and a nice big cafe there for refreshments and ice creams for the kids...nice little few hrs there daily...would highly recommend for a free day out

  • Tina ZHANG

great place to take photos, and there are so many ducks and pigeons and also three swans, sometimes you will find squirrels. you can also run and take some exercise here and there is a skatepark, and children's park, great to visit! in general,it is a wonderful place to enjoy your spare time

  • Carl Austin

This park has gone through some fantastic changes and is now an excellent park for a walk about. The addition of the skateboard park is amazing and every park in Liverpool should have one. There is also a nice little ice-cream/coffee shop, but they do not take card payments, cash only.

  • Carla

The lake was very popular with lots of coots, there is a lovely walk around the park and we saw many conscientious dog walkers doing the right thing after their dogs toileted which was good to see. The small fountains in the lake, to keep the weeds from building up were a nice sight.

  • Rahma Mahdy Agha

Newsham park is a really big park with more than one lake and a lot of ducks and birds which you can feed them and enjoy watching their beauty. Also there is playing area for kids contains slides, swings and more. Also it is a good place to walk, run or even have your breakfast !

  • Justin

disgusting tried walking the dog and was kids with anti-social behaviour was just ruining my time by smoking around my 2 year old son and hogging the playground when other kids want to go on it and not to mention they was 16 year olds hogging it never take me back …

  • Reda Turner-Smith

Lovely park for family walks with our dogs. But there's not much to do for my 6 years granddaughter because swings not been fixed since 2020 first lockdown. Also a lot of people letting them dogs to run free and not all of them very friendly to people or other dogs

  • Alec Eve

I come here almost daily to walk my dogs. I have got to know some of the other people who use the park. There's a kiosk that sells hot drinks and snacks. There are several play areas for children of different ages and outdoor gym equipment for people to use.

  • Anil Hari

Good park with all facilities. Good parking space.. Tolilet near refreshment area. Kids play area, cycle path. Pond and water fountain, bike stunt area, football and cricket ground also. Huge park. We can do fishing also( don't know about license ).

  • BONZO2468

Filled with beautiful wildlife I just wish certain fisherman (Not all as there is alot of good lads who fish and clean up before they leave) would do the same as majority and take there rubbish away with them ! Cmon lads it's Not Hard ! …

  • Jaimz W

Spacious but not as big as Sefton Park. Shame about the vintage gas lamps on the gate pillars at the prescott road entrance falling into rusted ruin. They would make a wonderful welcome to the park of an evening if they were restored and lit.

  • Taylor Sparks

This is a great park. It's really big and has lots to offer. Big open fields for soccer and cricket, wooded pathways to hike through, a skate park, a hot dog / ice cream shop. Pretty ponds full of ducks and geese. Even some water features. I

  • Richard Newberry

Nice enough park but the amount of litter around the place is disgusting. If bins are full, is it really too much trouble to use another bin, or even take your rubbish and used nappies home rather than leaving them on the floor for someone

  • Lisa Williams

Lovely here. Big massive open space of greenery, big lake were people fish, park and outdoor gym equipment . Cafe shop for food and drink toilets aswel. Brilliant in the summer time kids can run wild for hours, you havent got to rush back

  • Karl Eyres

Great park, plenty of space for kids to run around, terribly shame about the old Newsham general building been left to rot, would have made a great hotel. But like everything else, they'll probably knock it down, then talk about it in 20

  • Vicky Williams

Went for the afternoon to visit the little pop up fair which was fab but the park itself needs some tlc, the swings were nonexistent, the play area was only half open an most things were broke and quite alot of rubbish was laying about

  • John R

A much-cleaned up and better space than it used to be. Looking better now that they've planted more trees and a couple of wild growth areas. Not so big a park that you can get lost, but big enough to spend a couple of hours there.

  • Pamela Minto

Beautiful park, needs some more maintainance. Kids love the skate park which is always very popular. Some areas of the park very run down and full of broken glass other parts lovely. Hidden gem really with tons of potential

  • Rob Short

Good open space. Shame you're never far away from the smell of weed. Better now that the lights have been upgraded, but drainage in some parts is rubbish so choose footwear wisely based on previous days/weeks weather....!

  • May Roberts

The skate park is great for young and old teens, even adults. All ages practising their skills whether it's bikes, scooters, skateboards or skates. The park is big and spacious and a cafe to grab some refreshments.

  • Laura Duckess

It's a small but nice Park, with lots of Squirrels living in it. The only bad part of this park is, there's a lot of Algae in the like, the lake needs cleaning! That's why I rated it 4 stars and not 5.

  • Oli Wear (OgdenKamiennaPała)

It's not bad but the little lakes they needs to be cleaned and filtered. But generally I really like this park , so much space for having picnic with family play cricket and have fun with your puppy :)
