"Overall nice park, feels quite safe during daytime with plenty of joggers and families"
"It is one of the first EVER donated public parks and remains the delight of the local public it was intended to be"
"My favourite park (and we have many) in Liverpool"
"This was my 1st overseas parkrun and probably more importantly, my husbands 100th parkrun"
"Lovely old park, underused due to its proximity to Sefton Park Plenty of wildlife to sit and admire The walk round the lake is beautiful Undulating scenery, not just open green fields Tennis courts Children's playground Areas of the park left wild to help wildlife Parkrun"
Overall nice park, feels quite safe during daytime with plenty of joggers and families. Still, I wouldn't recommend it for solo women/girls during the very early or late hours of the day as there are plenty of nooks, corners, and even houses at the edges of the park that someone vulnerable can be made to disappear into. Because the area around it is a bit 'hit and miss' you can see the ocasional dodgy guy, so I don't trust (or my wife) this park 100% just yet. Needs more gentrification. I'm giving it 4 instead of 3 stars as there is currently a clear strong effort being made to the lake area to improve it and make it prettier/nicer, I assume. Some areas, fencing and roads are a bit rundown, so not 5 star material, but the effort (investment) is noticeable. The kids area seems safe with plenty of overly energetic kids stress-testing the swings and other 'attractions' on offer, and parents seem overall happy and unconcerned expressions on their faces whilst their kids do their best to accidentally injure themselves, so kudos to the 'toys' maintenance team. Plenty of open spaces to have your dogs run around crazy and dragging you with them. Looks great when it snows, looks even better during the cherry blossom season. Very happy to have this park 3 minutes away. No complaints yet.
It is one of the first EVER donated public parks and remains the delight of the local public it was intended to be. Quaint ,with pkenty of fun kids things in a kud friendly play area, ping pong, tennis,a maze, well laid out, lovely trees, open spaces, beautiful lake(although the boy in me wants to see and row boats and paddle canoes on it)I've seen a Heron fishing, coi carp ,terapins a Mandarin duck, moor hens, and squirrels a plenty ....I can only hope we are worthy of redemption and can attract another swan family to adopt us to in some way replace the one we so stupidly and tragically lost.
My favourite park (and we have many) in Liverpool. Now hosts Parc Run early every Saturday morning for all ages. Wonderful community health event. Register and you can participate in any Park in the UK us get details of your time, position in the run (not race) via the net shortly after you finish.
Playground
Great play facilities
Restrooms
No test rooms
Dog-friendliness
Absolutely with honours that control and clean up after them
Picnic area
Lots of them all over the park
This was my 1st overseas parkrun and probably more importantly, my husbands 100th parkrun. Its in a pretty setting, very green and beautiful trees and flowers, and the volunteers and participants are all super friendly. The route differed slightly from the normal one, apparently due to some work being done on their usual route. Nice vibe and they were most welcoming to us and even made an announcement about us visiting and that it happened to be my husbands 100th.
Lovely old park, underused due to its proximity to Sefton Park Plenty of wildlife to sit and admire The walk round the lake is beautiful Undulating scenery, not just open green fields Tennis courts Children's playground Areas of the park left wild to help wildlife Parkrun....a free 6k run open to all takes place every Saturday at 9am here Charming park with something for everyone
Great park for runners and dog walkers alike. Some great spaces and places to relax. great tennis court, some wooden kids play items, a pond that could be good for Fishing. Be careful on the paths as unfortunately some of them are well Worn and are a bit of a trip hazard, especially for tires runners. The park also forms part of the BTR half marathon and 10 miler route.
A wonderful park and right on my doorstep. Shame about people who can't find a bin or take their rubbish home. Swans, herons, ducks and coots on the lake. A lovely walk and good play areas for children.
Playground
2 play grounds and also tennis courts.
Dog-friendliness
Good park for dog walking. Plenty of poop bins for those who are responsible dog owners.
This must be thee only park I have ever been too that you can either just sit near thee lake and relax or even go for a nice walk .its has a lot if children parks for thee kiddywinks and you can feed thee geese and ducks without worrying they will bite your hand off lol and because I suffer with anxiety it so helps relax my mind .
Great park As it is close And it's is great for walking in loops Some bits need attention Trees are nice in spring, (cherry) Nice playground for all kids ages Even has a lake, it's great can fish init Never seen someone catch anything though (they keep trying) Good for a family walk Some parking at the gates limited though
Photos are on the island. Since covid, the wildlife in the park has picked up ( shame about the rats ) I find this park very relaxing and quiet most of the time.
Playground
Good play area for the small kids
Restrooms
There are no toilets
Picnic area
Very small picnic area but plenty of green if no rain
A beautiful space in the wonderful city of Liverpool, a short bus ride from the city centre delivers you to the park, there you can saunter and enjoy the atmosphere and surroundings
Dog-friendliness
Well behaved dog's ubder control should be fine
Picnic area
Large grassy areas, plenty of space.
I enjoy a nice stroll around the park i love to see people useing the park its lovely to see in the summer little clouds of smoke lots of barbecues going and people out with their young ones instead of sitting in front of the tele there are no restrooms but there is a toilet in the garage on ullet road
Gorgeous park in South Liverpool with a beautiful water feature and lots of grassy areas that are perfect for picnicking and sunbathing. Often overlooked because of the nearby Sefton Park, Princes Park is a real gem and is definitely worth a visit. Also home to Park Run in a Saturday morning at 09:00.
What can I say about Wood Henge? Great location, getting a bit shabby now as think local youths have tried to be destructive, tried burning it etc, but it's still standing, not sure that it will outlast Stone Henge Still worth a visit and a picnic by it and young kids will have a ball climbing it
We are on a mission to visit all of Liverpool's wonderful parks. This is now in my top 3. I love all the faded architecture surrounding this beautifully landscaped city space. I enjoyed the wildlife and appreciated the laid back community vibe. Definitely well worth a visit.
Park for those who want to get away from the maddening crowds. Just a 10 minute bus ride from the city centre; Take buses 75, 80, 80A or 27 from city centre and get off at the end of Princes Road. On Saturday mornings there is the well organised Park Run in the park.
I used to live in Toxteth and therefore Princes Park is the closest recreational place to go to. Princes park is a quite and very relaxing place. With a small lake located in the middle of the park, you can enjoy a quick walk with refreshing and uplifting scenes.
Beautiful hidden place, lovely walks up and down. There is no proper parking with in the park, but you can park your car on side streets.
Dog-friendliness
It is a dog friendly park, specially the ullet road end
Picnic area
Good for a family picnic.
A beautiful and cleverly designed park, it pre dates Sefton park, and is listed as a Grade II Historic Park. Created to raise the property prices and desirability of the area and then funded by the sale of the housing around the park. It is well worth a visit.
It used to be very clean but now rubbish everywhere specially in the playground area, everyone should clean after themselves specially who is eating sunflower seeds its shame just leaving your rubbish everywhere
Playground
Need more attention
I think this is a very underrated park. It's a beautiful space and not too big. It attracts the diverse community which is Liverpool 8 and this really appeals to me. There is a good children's play area and a pretty lake, currently being revamped.
many a memory on the island! nice park but gets freezing from the wind, can take better cover in Sefton, but its nice to walk through this piece of history. The original entrance gates and manor house (now converted) still in great state.
Great play ground for kids, lovely lake and walks, friendly atmosphere. Quieter than Sefton. Shame they are building a bridge to the island on the lake though, this is a sanctuary for birds. Also wish there were public toilets!
Nice Park to enjoy with your kids. Has a play area for smaller kids and also another for grown ups. Several tennis camps. Lake with ducks and swans. Lots of circuits for working out. It's a must see for whomever loves parks.
One of my favourite places in Liverpool, a lovely peaceful park away from the sefton park crowds. The lake is small and beautiful with lots of waterfowl and wildlife. Look out for parakeets and for foraging opportunities
Last day of January 2021. Had brisk walk around park, as only, 4C and windy. Park being left to return to countryside. Big change since I was a lad in the 50'tees, when it had manicured flower beds and a rose garden.
A lovely famous park , recently had its lake fixed , visited by a grey heron big pike , , carp & supposedly 4 ft Catfish , great group of people call " friends of princes park " who are restoring , cleaning it up .
Easily accessible from four different entrances, this smaller park is often less busy than its close neighbour, Sefton. Both adult swans and one large cygnet are back on the lake after recovering with RSPB.
I love it when I go with my family to play and have some exercise. Great meeting people - young and old, all looking excited and engaging in some forms of exercises or attracted to the activities there.
Gorgeous green park to relax, meditate and have fun. It features fishing lake, play ground, table & lawn tennis courts, a maze, a ring of standing tree trunks, breezy & beautiful landscape all through
Pleasant park to walk around, have a picnic. Nice play area for the children. Also has a descent lake, although it could do with a bit of a clean in some ares. Nonetheless a nice bit of green space.
Park has potential, fishing tennis courts and lots of space. The local kids need sorting out as I heard about them causing trouble a few times from friends kids. Once sorted it will be a great park.
We live pretty local, but are nearer to Sefton Park. On the occasion I come here, I always get a bad vibe, usually in the form of a kick off. Really hostile, rough environment. Shame.
Just a really good place to get fresh air. Listening to the parakeets is a bonus. The path around the lake is really good too. Not far from here is Sefton Park. Both worth a visit.
A lovely sight and play ground
Playground
A good play ground for kids
Dog-friendliness
Have a nice walk with your dog
Picnic area
A consideration for picnic
I often walk through here on my way to Hope St Quarter. Lovely park. Wildlife, lake, varied views and pretty peaceful. Good start to the working day for me. Very valued space x
Nice little park. If you want to see the parakeets, come in through the main entrance off the roundabout and turn right. Lots of them are always up in those trees …
My local park that offers peaceful surroundings with play area, tennis courts, lake and wood henge. Sadly the labyrinth itself isn't very clearly marked these days.
Beautiful inner city park in Liverpool with plenty of long winding paths for walking, green spaces and a lake where on a nice day you can spend the day and relax
Absolute gem of a park close to the city centre. Wildlife, lake, playground, Parkrun, tennis courts and several acres of lush green grass beautifully laid out.
The park seemed very nice, but we were there to see the giant puppets, and with the large crowds we did not see the park as it would be on an ordinary day.
Lovely, large park with children's play area, plenty of space for picnics, dog friendly. Very surprised that it doesn't have public toilets. …
Nice park with a lovely little lake and quite a.flat course if you're a runner. Would recommend for a peaceful afternoon stroll or weekend picnic.
A nice little park located pretty close to Sefton Park and is perhaps overlooked by its larger neighbour. A good place to go for a family walk.
Fairly small Victorian Park with a lake, tennis courts, play area. Great for dogs, on or off lead. Very popular Parkrun every Saturday at 9am.
Lovely place to walk and sit down seen a few dogs which was fine well behaved. Didn't see any dog muck or litter so grass was fine to sit on.
Yeah not much to do or see in here. There’s isn’t nearly enough street lamps to really consider it safe and paths are not well maintained.
We like this park as it's never as busy as sefton. My small sons love the swing park. We walk our Frenchy on regular basis to. Great park
Nice little park, although somewhat overshadowed by its larger nearby neighbour, Sefton Park. Upshot of this is that it's often quieter.
Well looked after and maintained park. Wide paths and large spaces, perfect for cyclists, parkrun, families etc and social distancing.
Walk in the park on a sunny day, great way to appreciate nature gifts and recharge spiritually while enjoy the location. Blessings!
Nice park great for a walk and nice for the kids. A mixture of big open space and nice walks. Just wished there was a cafe here.
It's really fresh smelling in the morning, and it's somewhere you should at least try. Fun for dogs, elderly, joggers, kid safe
Small lovely park opened in 1842. Has a fishing lake and nice playground. You will find some parrots living there too …
Nice little run around princes park parkrun course. No toilets was a bummer. Let’s hope they improve the services one day.
Near the lake is very nice and peaceful. And in the other part of the park, there is a place for children to play
Great large park, a bit of everything from lake to kids park Great open space for picnic or a walk with the dogs
My beautiful local park!!am always her with the grandkids, but have noticed the play area is a bit neglected!!!!
Close to citycentre, yet a peaceful world away. Historic park. Just have a Google Streetview to take a preview.
Beautiful park for a nice chill walk or run at any time of the day.
Dog-friendliness
It is dog friendly.
If you like wildlife its a nice place to come and walk. You can sometimes see baby ducklings which is cute.
Very calm and quiet. If you want to go to chill out with spouse or just a friend this is the place to go.
Nice park with playground, tennis courts and great open green field lands to play soccer or other sports.
A great park which we mistook for sefton Park plenty of walks and plenty of plants and lake to admire
Nice, well looked after park with free tennis courts, lake, kids play area and outdoor gym machines
This is a great park. Not the biggest but a nice place to have a stroll or spend time with family
Beautiful and spiritual park. Can always find a quiet spot. Beautifully kept too and clean …
Fantastic place calm and relaxing great place to take a friend and enjoy the beautiful sites
Lovely park with excellent play equipment for kids. A worthy neighbour for Sefton Park.
Beautiful park, notary people but lots of birds and butterflies. Restful and so pretty.
Very beautiful park to have your walks, with family and friends or just by yourself.
Beautiful park with a lake that is ideal for relaxing the tranquility is fantastic
A well designed and kept park with plenty of room for exercise you and the dogs
Squirrels everywhere, and parrots boss and looking lovely this time of year
