We had dinner and breakfast here at the Old Wharf Restaurant as we stayed one night at the MacQ 01 hotel. The restaurant decor is beautiful, the staff were friendly and offered exceptional service, they went above and beyond. Loved it !!! For dinner we enjoyed the oyster kilpatrick and the fig and prosciutto salad for starters. My daughter loved the salad. For main we had the steak, pork cutlet, scallop pie and macaroni and cheese. All the dishes were outstanding. We did order the carrots side dish that we didn’t enjoy but staff were happy to take this off the bill. My daughter would of preferred more cheese on her macaroni and cheese but still enjoyed it. My son loved his pork cutlet not so much the slaw but we ordered fries for him. My hubby enjoyed his steak it was cooked to perfection ! I had the scallop pie and I loved it... the trick is add more curry sauce to the pie and this made it delicious Breakfast was great, my hubby and I enjoyed the baked eggs and bagel with salmon and scrambled eggs. The kids had room service as they like to sleep in and enjoyed poached eggs on toast with avocado and the continental breakfast. Best of all coffee was made to perfection. 10/10 for this restaurant!!!

The Old Wharf Restaurant is situated at the MACq 01 Hotel in Hobart. It has style and class in its decor and layout. Even better that it is matched by fine food quality and service. We visited the restaurant midweek evening for dinner. We began our feast with the Tasmanian Salt and Pepper squid for entree. The squid was exquisite so delicately crumbed and crispy. We followed this with the Pork Cutlet and Pasta alla Vodka. Both excellent appetising main courses. My absolute highlight was the Passionfruit Trifle served with cream and vanilla ice cream. Great ending to a fine meal. Delighted with my first visit I already look forward to my return. Highly recommended

Had the salt and pepper squid for entree.which was delightful from start to finish. Ordered the eye fillet with a side of potatoes. The potatoes were cooked well and made the meal, where the steak, the champion of the meal was a huge let down. The steak itself didn't stand up on its own, needing the condiments on the side and fer an eye fillet had an extraordinary amount of grissel. Extremely disappointing! The acoustics in the restaurant were average with being able to hear everyones conversation forcing almost shouting to be able to speak on a Monday night. View was amazing and staff very nice. I spoke to them regarding the steak and they offered complementary deserts, although does this make up for the miss?

My colleague and I arrived at the hotel late afternoon and were going to have dinner at one of the local pubs, but they were closed on the Sunday night. So we decided to eat in, staying at the Hotel. We ordered a cheese platter for entree. It was a delicious spread of tassie cheeses and sides. Washed down with a delightful peach cocktail. Mains, we both chose the lamb, accompanied with Huon baby potatoes and a sweet potato and avocado salad. The sides were delicious! The meals were filling and warm to the tummy, perfect after a long day of travelling. We also sat in the restaurant daily for breakfast..highly recommend the continental.

Came here for my birthday dinner a few nights ago - the vibe, location and service were wonderful. Our waiter, Mel (?), was very attentive and lovely. The cocktails were super good and the wine list very extensive. The food was good, but I thought the portions a modest and generally not particularly interesting or creative considering the price. Maybe I'm just cheap though. The wallaby pie appeared one of the best options, however.

Lovely location. Would be amazing on sunset. The reflection on the windows means you can't see the water after dark. The dimly lit and quiet atmosphere made it so cosy and welcoming. There's also a lounge and fireplace you could sit for hours. Food was great, but serving sizes on the smaller side and not quite as exquisite as we were expecting for the price & reputation. The staff were faultless.

yo this restaurant shafted us $150 off our $300 meal after we found TWO hairs in our meals. Our expectations of our immaculate dining experience was immediately reduced to 0 after we walked in to find the chefs wearing no hairnets at all. We found a hair in the fish and in the salad and this ruined our appetites. Immediately after we complained to the waiter about the 2 hairs and we wished we would receive a full compensation of our meal due to our complete dissatisfaction. However we only got half off our meal altogether. The service was really good though i recommend the Indian guy there he’s nice.

Table not ready, told we only had the balance of 2h booking to eat though we sat down 15 minutes late. Then another 15 minutes before we were offered drinks and 15 mins more until dinner orders taken. Some guests received 2 entres. Mains delivered to table at time we were supposed to leave. Food was fair to good depending on dish. We presume there is a management issue as staff were helpful and polite but seemed overtired and run off their feet.

Our visit to this enchanting restaurant proved to be an immensely pleasurable experience. The staff exuded a remarkable level of friendliness and warmth, extending a gracious welcome to us. The culinary offerings surpassed our expectations, as the food was both exceptional and offered excellent value for money when compared to other establishments in the area. While I typically hold my mother's cooking in the highest regard and refrain from drawing comparisons, on this particular occasion, the parallel is indeed fitting.

Great attentive staff to those who served us. Ordered the ‘Feed Me’ menu. The food was delicious however the octopus and fish on our seafood plate were over cooked and dry. If the meals came out one plate a few minutes at a time it would’ve made the experience feel less like it dragged on waiting for food. Dining time was 8:15pm, that finished at 10:30pm. Felt ready to go to sleep by the end of it. Overall, great ambience and staff, just got to improve on the timings of bringing food out.

It’s okay. I don’t think the food, service or atmosphere is exciting or elevated enough to match the price range. The view is beautiful though. We order 3 thing that were smothered in pesto. I love pesto, but surely there are other flavours than that. And the steak was well done not medium, don’t usually send anything back to the kitchen... but given the reputation and $ I don’t think silly mistakes like that should be made.

Terrific spot in the Macq01 Hotel - the Story Hotel. Service was solid and attentive, the setting is lovely overlooking the harbour and water (ask for a window table) and the food is top notch. Not 5 Star dining but not far off it. We were staying in the hotel and we were thrilled with the quality of the menu and the food. Perfect for a business meeting, date or with your loved one/s. We had the whiting (pick of the dishes), the eggplant, shaved broccoli (which comes cold), the steak (perfectly cooked) and a divine dessert. RECOMMENDED.

I absolutely love coming here for breakfast. My favourite menu items are the smoked salmon bagel and the baked eggs, every time the dishes are well seasoned and perfectly balanced. The new breaky buffet is a fantastic addition as it lets me customise what I want (especially since before a lot of the items weren’t vegetarian). The service is always fantastic especially Emma who was fantastic and friendly, absolutely made my day!

Was a nice place but would say food is overpriced for what it is. Oysters were great and the scallop pie was enjoyable, however the salmon was pretty average. Serving staff were slow and forgetful, had to ask for the wine we ordered after our oysters came and then didn’t top us up, which is fine if the wine was at the table not taken it away. Also forgot some of our additional orders and when we finished our mains she took our desert order but left our plates in front of us, the service was a 3/5

Went here for an anniversary. Which was a great choice. The staff brought as some champagne on the house which was very sweet. We both had streak. A porter house and eye fillet, with roast potatoes and a sweet potato and avocado salad. They were all super delicious and would absolutely recommend and go here again. Thanks to the staff and chefs for a fantastic night.

The service was solid and the entrees were really nice, but the mains were a letdown, and for the price you're paying here, I expected much better. The salmon and steak were overcooked, and the "BBQ" chicken was clearly boiled before being seared, as was clear from how it looked and the texture of the meat As a general experience, this restaurant is fine, but again, for the price, one would expect better than 'just fine'. This restaurant seriously needs a better team working on the main dishes.

A nice modern Australian restaurant located on the wharf strip. The views would be nice during the day, it was hard to see anything at night. The ambience and vibe of the restaurant was fine and business like. We thought all the dishes tasted delicious and were of good quality. The carrots dish really surprised us, they were cooked perfectly and the different sauces complemented the ingredient well. Overall the service was not too bad, would recommend a visit!

It’s a lovely venue at lunchtime. I haven’t dined at night. Today we had pink ling in a cider batter with chips and duck croquettes. You can sit outside or inside in comfy lounge chairs. The waitstaff are friendly.

Good and bad. This restaurant is beautiful, the atmosphere is amazing. The service is excellent. It is a more classy/high end restaurant which therefore comes with expensive prices, that's fine. But unfortunately the food was also just fine... And when you are paying $100 for two mains the price was not justified for the cook on the meat and nothing else on the plate. Im happy to pay more but I expect more. And both the steak and the salmon were just ok.

Brilliant Service! We dined for our 7 year anniversary and Valentines and was met with bubbles and a beautiful window table. The food was wonderfully presented and decent size for price! Beef cheeks and scallops We shared a mousse and raspberry special for dessert and was attended to politely and just enough to not have to wait for service. We will definitely be back again ! Very good service, really accommodating. Served us safely with food intolerances. The good - amazing chowder, very competent pork belly, crackling slightly chewy. Main filet steak not cooked to spec but tasty, beef cheek phenomenal. Hit and miss but the good was so good that we will be back! The not so good - overcooked seafood on the starter. Pretty good overall and beautiful views. Lovely ambiance. Would recommend.

Stayed at Mac 1(amazing). Had the steak for dinner perfectly cooked to medium. Was delicious. Sticky date a unique taste delicious large serving. Avoid the chips nothing special only if you have kids with you-but not required. Had breakfast in the morning fast efficient service great almond latte and the Ziggy streaky bacon was perfect. Service for both dinner and breakfast was top notch couldn't fault.

We were so Hungary..and this place is open later than others...good service, magnificent view, clean look. But oh dear God, the food was so bad, this is despite our hunger which usually makes almost anything eatable..not this one..I'm pretty sure there is no chef at the back and rather it's just some bored student putting matter on plates...good luck with you guys, but you do need a chef

Perfect place for our anniversary dinner. Service was outstanding both when booking and dining. Table by the window and complimentary champagne when they found out it was our wedding anniversary. Very pleased with the meal my partner and I had tonight, can highly recommend the "feed me" option on the menu. Wow was it a great way to experience more of the menu in one sitting, every plate was delicious. Honestly great. You will enjoy yourself here. HOWEVER, the seafood could have been more tender, the salad could have had less kale in it. The slow cook beef cheek was absolutely superb. Really torn between 4 or 5 stars. I think some tiny fixes and this can be a 5 star experience easy

We had dinner and breakfast here. Both were just ok. It was expensive (as you would expect) but the meals were disappointing. The location and ambiance was great and the staff were great too. I almost went 4 stars because of these factors,but expensive and just ok food brought it down. We wont be dining here again as there are so many better options close by

Lovely setting right next to the harbour and amazing service. Delicious entree and dessert. Mains were average - had the beef cheek and salmon. Service was great because I only wanted to mention the beef cheek was very dry but they gave us our dessert free as an apology for this.

A modern waterfront Aussie restaurant. Atmosphere is great, what we had was Xmas lunch set in 2020 and it's not bad but not much option compared with order what u like you know. I love the atmosphere more than the food.

The food was excellent, well cooked and presented. Flavours beautiful. Our evening was made even more enjoyable by the efficient and focussed wait staff. Great drinks list and a lovely venue. Comfortable chairs a bonus.

Had the buffet (continental) breakfast. Nice selection of fresh fruit and pastries. Poached eggs were made fresh, to perfection. All quality ingredients.
