I rented a 10 x 10 foot unit and when I stored an 8 foot long shelf in the unit, it "just" fit. Odd....so I measured it and sure enough it was only 8' 3" deep! So they are advertising the room sizes as 10x10 when in fact, they are not, which is nearly a 20% difference in size. I chose this place because it was in fact a bit cheaper than the rest, well now we know why. When I asked about this at the front desk, the response was, "that is how the company measures the units." Huh? So they have a different idea of what 10x10 is? After a week of renting the unit, we moved out to a competitors unit which measured almost exactly 10x10. What annoys me more than anything, is I emailed them first to ask about this and NO ONE RESPONDED. Great customer service. I had to pay the "$35 admin fee" which from what i can gather, will not be returned. Beware. Measure the unit before you sign the contract.

If you are looking for storage in Burlington look elsewhere. I've had a storage locker here for about a year. They have increased their rates by 35% during this time. If you are 6 days late making a payment they charge a fee. Twice I've gone to pay an they were out for lunch, then charged me a late fee when I was back 2 days later. I was on time the first visits. They now allow you to pay online so no longer an issue. They have hundreds of lockers but only 4 loading bays. Several times a year there is at least 1 loading Bay door out of operation. There are no other options to get into the building and they seem to take weeks to get the doors replaced. These doors should be fixed same day or next day. Only 2 elevators and they are slow. Quite a few times I've gone to get things and eventually had to leave. I'm actively looking for another location, which will be a lot of work to move.

I rented a small storage unit at the Appleby Road Burlington location about six years ago for a few months, and had a good experience with it. Now that I'm in need of similar storage, I've gone back to the same location. I reserved a unit online, and Anant followed up with a phone call mentioning their seasonal price promotion. I've rented the unit, and the place is virtually the same as it was: clean, easily accessible and climate controlled at a moderate temperature appropriate for indoor storage. The only change is that the unit is no longer accessible 24 hours a day, but 6am until 10 p.m., though some other storage places lock their gate earlier. Easy enough rental process, lower than average pricing, and effective customer service; recommended. Cheers in '22!

They keep raising prices and raising prices so get ready for that. Of course new customers get to pay less than you. Bet they learn from Bell. Be prepared to bring a flash light cause the lights are on motion sensors so you will be left in the dark when looking through your unit. Or get in and out as soon as you can. Also their doors are out of service 99% of the year. I have gone there once and 3 out of the 4 doors were out of service. There was a line up to get in and out. There are times where the doors are broken and left completely wide open 24/7 so hopefully you don't have too many valuables in your units. Typical corporation run storage centre. Cut cut cut raise raise raise.

My experience at the actual location (Appleby Line, Burlington) was 5/5. However, when you are calling to inquire or rent a space understand that you are calling into the US and you may as well be speaking to a used car sales person (no disrespect to used car sales people). Fast talking and half the information. Be prepared for, 'do you have house insurance, if you do you're good'. However when you arrive, the follow up to that question is, your house insurance MUST state that 'SmartStop Storage' coverage. Otherwise is an additional fee per month. Again, at the location, 5 stars, very good, very helpful, very courteous, very clean. Booking via the phone 1/2 star.

Just got yelled at by the staff member named Leeona because she showed up 3 hours late for work... I simply asked for access to my storage unit first because a driver that works for them had pulled up in front of the bay doors while I had moved over to the customer service doors to find out why the doors weren’t open(I am disabled and couldn’t walks back and forth). In anticipation of the snow storm they decided to open at 9:30 (Leeona showed up at 9:50) instead of their normal 6am open time. I have paid for 24 hour access. Have come 3 times and have not been able to access my locker due to bay door issues. I would not reccomend this storage facility to anyone.

My husband and I used this storage facility recently during a move. In the end we were owed a refund for moving out when we did. Almost two months later, we are still waiting for our refund and the people at this location have been an absolute nightmare. What is going on, to the extent that two months later we still have not received the refund we are owed? How do you explain or justify that? other than either complete incompetence, or they really have no intention of giving us our refund, and they're lying to us and stringing us along, hoping that we'll forget and drop it. I will never do business with this company again.

They sent me an email and phoned me 4 days before month end to confirm if I was still moving my storage items to verify whether I'm moving by end of month, so they won't charge me another month. When I went on Saturday to see the front desk person, after I cleared it all, she said my Account was already closed & taken care of online. They also emailed me. I found them all too be very courteous, friendly & professional at all times. Im very impressed with their care & quality service. Thanks very much to the entire team! Probably one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. They raise rates almost every 6 months and say the rate increases are based on occupancy levels. I had a storage unit for approximately 6 years with my monthly rate doubling. The final straw that made me move was when I realized was pay approximately $50.00 per month more then a new customer would pay! When I confronted the office staff, her answer was that’s how they make money. Wrong that’s how you lose customers. Got almost the same size unit at U-Haul for 1/2 the price.

Storage is clean an fairly well organized although some signs to indicated different units would be useful. My storage lease was to end of 31st Dec but I called on 29th and told that I need to vacate by 30th or I will have to pay for 2 or 3 days more as they would be closed on Dec 31st and Jan 1st. Secondly, even with proof of insurance for contents in storage, they were trying to force me to buy insurance. Tip: Make sure you print out storage insurance which often comes with renters insurance.

Some.of the worst customer service I've ever experienced! I would NEVER recommend this location to anyone. You will have nothing but problems with these people. Came to pay my bill twice and twice now, they were "Out for Lunch", or "Gone to Bank." This place's business model is all about screwing customers with increased rates and garbage late fees. Just started a new rental and I am more then happy with everything. Place is very clean. well lit and spacious in thr corridors between the units. The customer service at this place is impeccable. I dealt with Laeya while first getting the unit and getting it setup. She was super friendly and very knowledgeable and made the whole experience both very pleasant and easy. Highly recommend!

Over priced compared to nearby competitors, not willing to negotiate more competitive rates with long standing good quality tenants. Poor accessibility to facility compared to competitors (access closes at 10pm vs 24hr access at most others). Consistent rate increases as often as possible with no discernible improvement to customer experience or facilities.

Jacqueline and Andrea are awesome. They have been a huge help in helping me store and access my belongings . Always happy to lend a hand. There are lots of storage facilities out there, but I would recommend SmartShop and their staff over any of them. Safe, secure, easy to access up to 24hrs a day. Cant ask for more !!! Cool place. I helped a friend move some stuff in and out of his storage unit here. Pretty cool idea the have. It's like a hotel of storage units. All climate controlled too, so no worries about the type of items you are storing. Nice loading bays and plenty of cars available for large items. Clean facility and friendly staff on site

Great place to store your stuff. Clean, very affordable, and I was able to get a unit same day. Manny made the whole process painless, and when I needed to cancel the unit, he helped me again. Very helpful with me switching to a bigger storage room. This place is VERY clean with no rat infestation and I haven't seen a single insect for the few years I have been using this storage facility. At the time, I was looking for a storage unit. Staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. Andrea answered all of my questions and addressed my concerns. Jerry from the Appleby location was professional and very courteous to deal with. He also made sure that the rates were competitive and the promotions were applied to our rental without having to ask. It was a very pleasant experience to deal with a knowledgeable soft sales person that Jerry is.

Beware!! They are bait and switch artists. They get you on an attractive promotional price then raise the rate in 6 months (by 17% in my case) with absolutely no justification other than "this happens in the storage industry". Originally very pleased but now I'm regretting the move to SmartShop.

They will raise the rates on you with no notice. You can hear the manager on the phone coaching the ppl at the store while mocking the customers she thinks can't hear her. I've yet to meet anyone who qualify for their $1 move in the first month. Money hungry scammers.

Clean and reliable storage. Customer service was good too when we signed up in person, very friendly. They lost a star in my book as they raised my rates as soon as they were able too. They mentioned rates may change after 6 months and sure enough, an increase.

Julia was very helpful! Storage unit was clean. There has only been one time that I visited the unit that I had to wait for a Bay to become available. Good experience so far! Size of unit a little smaller than I had anticipated but adequate to store my things.

My girlfriend rents at this location. I was helping her move in some items. Very clean location . HUGE covered loading area which is wicked when raining outside. The staff were very friendly. Excellent lighting and size units. Lots of parking and carts to use.

Very clean & secure facility. Staff are friendly & helpful if any issues arise. All units are in a secure building so there is never any issue with water damage or other problems due to weather etc unlike other places that have out building type of storage.
