BUYER BEWARE, especially those in condos: Upon the attempted delivery of our couch, the couch didn't fit into our elevator. We found out through their staff that the sofa was well known to have issues with delivery due to it not fitting, but we were NOT warned of the same by the sales staff (despite measurements coming up in our discussion during & after purchase, we measured everything else but the elevator). We ended up having to send back the original sofa and pick an "online only" couch (due to size & availability) AND the credit from the first couch was not applied to the delivery amount (this is in their fine print and applies to "no-fit" exchanges too). This meant we not only paid $150+tax for the first delivery, but were out an extra $150+tax for the second delivery. They permitted us to go with a lower priced sofa on paper but in actuality we still ended up paying extra for the new sofa due to the delivery. When we said we could try to go to the warehouse to pick up the couch to save on delivery cost or just do curbside delivery, they stated they couldn't accomodate the lower price any more. It was clear that they just wanted to make more money out of the "exchange" transaction, one way or another. Overall, wouldn't recommend sofa world for condo residents. Check other stores - they have lower delivery fees even if you have to end up doing an exchange! Also, if you're liking something at sofa world, check their website, since both our couches were cheaper online!

I would actually give them more than five stars..... Everybody was really attentive to my needs and the goals that I wanted to accomplish from the sales side and they weren't interested in selling me more product than I needed or wanted to buy. They were extremely Fair on their pricing and I felt really good when I left the store. The delivery process was amazing the guys were polite when they arrived offered to put on booties and even remove their shoes when they were in my living room.... Plus they shared some great experiences and very helpful with the placement of furniture. The icing on the cake occurred when I had to do a warranty call.... I feel that I was treated amazing by the service department.... I sent her some photos of what was going on with my piece and she immediately offered to order me two new cushions from the manufacturer. Not only did my sofa cushions come to me but they showed up 5 weeks early plus they were willing to work with me on the other sofa I purchased by giving me a discount on the other two cushions because she said she believes in working for and with the customer. I used to sell furniture which makes me the worst customer.... But I also know flawless service when I get it. My experience with civil world and Dufresne furniture was flawless.

Been living in Ottawa all my life; have bought many pieces of furniture over the years. Never thought to go to Sofa World. Just so happened that I stumbled upon this place one day when i was in the market for a couch. I'd have to say that i was pleasantly surprised on a number of fronts. The prices were reasonable and quite competitive. And the quality of their furniture is quite good - a mix of Canadian made and US etc. Decent variety too. But i'd have to say that the highlight, and what made the experience stand out from the rest, was Amanda, the sales associate. Amanda is just an overall lovely person and a great sales associate! She took the time to walk me through my options, understood and helped me weigh out the pros and cons based on my particular situation, and she went out of her way to get me the best deal possible. From the moment I entered your showroom on Merivale, to the moment the delivery men left, this has been THE best retail sales experience I've had in decades! Snow welcomed me as I entered (low pressure!) and explained what you offer (customization, lower than indicated pricing, etc). She gave me a fabulous price, and I'd been everywhere else in town and no other pricing compared. She made the purchase seamless and the delivery set-up was the same. As promised, I got a call the day before from a very nice gentleman confirming the 3-hour delivery window. When the sofa was delivered, the delivery professionals (and I DO mean "professionals"!!) got it through the door and around the corner even when I thought it might not make it! They were so kind and thoughtful about the space. All in all, RUN don't walk to Sofa World and support this family-owned, local busness in any way you can. THIS is "customer service" as it should be! We have been looking for a new sofa for several months. The problem we ran into with several furniture retailers was stock availability. We heard about Sofa World on Merivale Road and decided to have a look. We were immediately greeted by Noor whom showed us all the various designs and styles in their gorgeous showroom. What was most impressive was the amount of choices they had available in stock. It was amazing. Noor helped us choose the right sofa for our needs and budget. We chose to have our sofa delivered and paid for the “full set up delivery option”. The delivery team showed up on time and set up our sofa quickly and efficiently. The “full set up delivery option” is worth the investment. The delivery team (George and Hamid) were very polite and even took away all the plastic and cardboard. We highly recommend Sofa World for your next furniture purchase. Ask for Noor…you won’t be disappointed.

We had a wonderful experience at Sofa World. Right away from the moment we entered the store, Tyler let us know he was there to help and showed us some options based on what we said. He did not pressure us to buy something we were on the fence about in comparison to other furniture stores we’ve been to, which was quite refreshing. The stairs to our basement are very narrow so we were worried about finding a sofa that would fit. The first sofa we ordered unfortunately was a smidge too large to fit through the stairs and they accepted it back with no questions. Tyler went above and beyond to find us the right sofa that would fit and would give us regular updates on shipping/arrival. My husband and I visited over the weekend with the intention of “just browsing”, but we were so happy with the selection, prices, and service, as well as the help that we received, that we ended up buying our new couch on the spot. We had a particularly amazing experience with Amanda. She was wonderfully friendly, helpful, extremely knowledgeable, and we were impressed that she devoted all of her attention and energy towards us while we worked together to find our perfect couch. She respected our budget and made our search and purchase process feel like a warm and personal experience. We feel like we were well taken care of and will even continue to be well taken care of by the staff during shipping and even after our couch arrives if needed. EDIT: when we went to pick up the sofa. Initially before purchase and when giving deposit over the phone we were told the sofa was fine to stay at the store for a couple of days until we can arrange pickup. After they received our 50% deposit, they told us the sofa must be picked up the next day. We rearranged our plans and drove into Ottawa during a rain storm. The couch was to be plastic wrapped properly as it was going to be a in garage for a month. We were shown pictures on how they usually wrap the items. Once we arrived at the store the couch set was about half way wrapped (3 piece sectional) Had to spend 20 minutes to wrap and load the couch by ourselves. Everything was great until they received our deposit! Review was initially 5* , dropping it to a 2star. Sales associate Amanda was nice and easy to deal with.

Couldn’t be happier with my experience at Sofa World. My girlfriend and I went in store and picked a couch we loved. Unfortunately, when delivered, the couch didn’t fit in our apartment. No one could have been blamed but ourselves. The delivery team tried every option, and called the General Manager, Marc, who immediately came over and tried to support. After we exhausted all options, the couch was sent back to the store. I was then immediately contacted by our sales rep, Tyler. Tyler prepared all potential couch options that would fit in our apartment. He cared deeply that my girlfriend and I found the right replacement couch, which we did thanks to Tyler. When I am in the market for my next couch, I will undoubtedly go to Sofa World, and will recommend my family and friends do the same.

We were in the market for some sofas and a recliner and were very lucky to have met Amanda at SofaWorld. She was very helpful as we were looking at different options and never pressured us once. We bought our couch and recliner about 3 years ago. After 3 years, our furniture was falling apart. I’ll admit, I was pretty disappointed. I went into the store to scope out some new items and when chatting with the sales representative, she reminded me that there’s a 5 year warranty on a lot of the furniture. I then contacted the service department with the issues we were having and they were very friendly and efficient in helping us in deciding what would be the best option for us. It cost us about $400 for labour to fix but our furniture looks brand new and I could not be happier. I will definitely be shopping here in the future and recommending this store to friends and family. Thank you!

Tip: BEFORE arriving, if you live in an apartment, measure your elevator and hallway - height, length, and width! I wish I had visited Sofa World first when I moved, instead of ever bothering with IKEA. Amanda was super friendly and helpful, both at the store and after purchase. She worked to find different colour and fabric combinations to work within my budget for a couch I really liked. I'm amazed I was able to buy a Canadian-made couch at the price point I did. The delivery men were also super nice! I highly recommend Sofa World to anyone looking for a couch. There really is a range of prices, and you can find something very comfortable from here while also supporting a local business.

My wing chairs arrived today. Having previously purchased from Sofa World, I knew that the custom fabric, workmanship and quality would be excellent. I was not disappointed. They look fabulous and, just as important, they’re comfortable to sit in. Chantal is an excellent representative of the store. Her calls to their supplier ensured that all my requests were met. The lads who delivered the chairs were cheerful, quickly removing the packing and setting the chairs in place. My daughter is still using the sofa, loveseat and two wing chairs I purchased from Sofa World in 2001. All the pieces are still in excellent condition. We purchased a couch in the showroom, and never thought to check the size, and the salesman never mentioned anything either, but when it came time to deliver the couch, it would not fit through the front door. After much back and forth and promises of the delivery manager coming for the next attempt and not coming as promised, they convinced my wife to sign a waiver while I was at work and forced it through our basement door causing damage to the couch and door. Completely unprofessional for a company that specializes in couches to not be able to safely deliver a couch as promised. Do not buy a couch from them unless you are sure it can fit in a standard door.

After going to 5 other stores yesterday, getting more and more discouraged of finding what we need, we walked into the Merivale store, and Amanda took extremely amazing care of us, going through our list of needs and requirements like a boss, and found us a Palliser set that was perfect and fit every need. This store is amazing, all is Canadian made in Winnipeg, and timelines are 4-6 weeks, when big box stores can be months away. After-care is also better than the big box stores as well. I recommend Sofa World and Amanda to anyone looking for quality furniture that doesn't feel like it will bust, and a very caring, down-to-earth customer care.

Nour Hassouna was an absolute delight. She helped us select the perfect sofa! When it was delivered it did not fit, everyone was so solution oriented. We ended up having it cut in the wharehouse and Sofaworld had a technician come and put it back together in our living room. Throughout the whole process Nour was kind, knowledgeable, solution orientated and just an absolute delight to deal with. We will be going back to her for all our future sofa needs and I will recommend her to anyone I come across that needs a couch. Nour knows her stuff. We purchased a relatively large sectional sofa from SofaWorld at the end of 2022 and dealt with Amanda. She was very knowledgeable in regards to the quality of the different sofa options we were considering, was able to negotiate what we felt was a very fair price, and was also able to have the sofa delivered within a matter of only a few weeks. It was very nice to deal with such great customer service, and I strongly recommend anyone considering a purchase from SofaWorld to deal with her (although, I cannot really comment on the other salespeople, as I did not deal with them).

Rima & the team at Sofa World made the process of purchasing a new sofa during the pandemic a pleasant one. She helped us pick a Canadian-made brand, in a shape, style & fabric that suited our needs. The staff even assisted us to move coffee tables around the showroom to help us better visualize the space! The delivery team was terrific, too, friendly, kind & very consciensious of our home. Nearly a year after delivery, and our sofa (and coffee table) has held up beautifully, still looking brand new after daily use. We won't hesitate to shop with Rima & Sofa World again.

Chantal Roy helped us customize the perfect couch. My wife and I had a particular vision for a new couch/sectional and Chantal worked with us for 3 hours to customize it. She was very knowledgeable about her products and always put our needs first. We visited many other stores where we would tell the sales associate what we were looking for and they would try to sell us on something completely different. Chantal was different in that right from the beginning she listened to what we were looking for and never pressured us to buy something we didn't absolutely love.

Best place to deal with, we dealt with Chantal Roy, she is well organized and very much professional. Prices are great and unbeatable I would say. We visited almost every stores in Ottawa but this is the best place for sofa we found. They customize the sofa and that's the best thing of the Sofa World.
