I wanted to share with all potential buyers of furniture the experience I had with this company. Roughly 9 months ago I bought a sectional couch from valley squire furniture. Wanting to buy a beautiful couch for my dream home I decided to up my anti from the brick and give the company a try. I am definitely sorry that I did. My wife fell in love with the couch as soon as she saw it; it was a beautiful firm sectional couch that would be the centrepiece of any room. Within a few weeks the fabric on two of the cushions ripped. I called valley squire and emailed and eventually got a hold of them. They said they ordered new covers for me- of which I was quite satisfied with. A month passed; and still no phone call from Valley squire- they had forgot to order them. Life got busy; It was hard to arrange a time for pick up; we kept getting phone calls from Alan to deliver them to our house. He was only available when people work; and would not accommodate a time. He then went as far as to call me and tell me he was on his way on a saturday- when I was not home and working. Being from the customer service industry myself; I was quite shocked. Usually if something is wrong with your product you want to rectify it as soon as humanly possible and do it at a time that is convenient for the paying client. Another month passed and we could not organize a time that he could drop by- at that point the couch cushions deflated; and the frame was digging into anyone who sat or laid down on the couch. Having a series of unprofessional phone calls with Alan- to the point where he even said " all you gotta do is stuff in some stuffing " I decided to drop off the pillows that needed a new sleeve and to be fixed. Now I am not an expert in couch's; but the main function of a couch is to sit on them; lay down on them; and be comfortable. This couch did not serve that purpose. After Alan re stuffed the couch cushions; they were a bit better- I appreciated that he did it. A week passed; and the exact same problem arose. Alan said he would come take a look at it in person. Could not accommodate a time during the week; not wanting to work into the night; so we settled on 7 am! saturday morning! I work a lot of hours and that is the only day I get to sleep in- sucked but had to be done. He showed up; told me the couch was a final sale and that all I had to do was stuff stuffing in it- that he had talked to the manager and that there was nothing else they could do. Geez! am I lucky he came in person to tell me that and not say that over the phone. That is exactly what I wanted to hear at 7 am on a saturday morning. Alan told me to contact his manager - so I just did. He told me it was a final sale and that there was nothing else they can do. The couch was 2200 with tax- Alan told me it was 1900$ So I guess they owe me some money. They are extremely unprofessional; lack basic customer service skills and clearly do not understand that regardless of the couch being a final sale; the customer is always right. I am not a person who writes google reviews on places- for positive or negative experience. I am just a regular extremely hard working guy who works a lot of hours to make money for his family. When I get ripped off and treated like garbage; I have a problem with that- and so should you! My advice to this company is to start small- read some basic management books- it might help :) Best of luck to you; hopefully this review enlightens you and perhaps you will make some changes.

We were treated very poorly when we came in looking for a bedroom set Dec 10th. We walked around looking at displays and found one we were interested in, we came back up to the front to ask for assistance discussing pricing, as none of the sets had pricing listed for king size. We were assisted by an older woman with a short bob, wearing a long skirt. She went over that set and we discussed options. Then we went to the front of the store and asked for help discussing options for another set that my husband really liked. She was not clear in any of her explanations of pricing and color availability. It was always worded in a way that was not clear so I would ask for clarification. We try to lift the mattress so we can see the support planks and she came over immediately fixing the bed spread explaining that of course they are solid wood. I said we want to see it. We get to a point where my husband and I are ready to pull the trigger and we start moving displays items off the bed, shes like what are you doing, I explained I wanted to try getting in and out of the bed and lay in it to see if I like it, she started huffing and rolled her eyes and finally Said ok but only if your very very gentle. (It's a solid wood bed it should be plenty able to hold us, and viewing support of the mattress is important) This was the last straw for me and I turned to my husband and said were leaving. The entire interaction was full of comments about pricing and condescending in a way that she made us feel like we cannot afford to shop in this store, we are a younger couple dressed very casually for shopping. When I'm spending over $6000 on a bed and side tables I expect to be able to touch and feel the merchandise. We have been shopping for a bed set for a while and not found what we wanted and have never ever been treated so poorly by a sales associate. I assure you despite our appearance we can in fact afford to shop in your store...

We bought two top of the line paliser leather motion chairs here. The sales person was ok. We talked about where we were putting the new chairs (open area with no outlets ) and they told us no problem because they could include two battery packs with them that only had to be charged once a month or so. We said great! And proceeded to write up the deal. All good. When they were delivered 12 weeks later, we out them in our garage since we were moving in two weeks. Go to set them up at the new place and. O battery packs! We call the store immediately and they say they are not included. They check the invoice (which is hand written and messy and has order codes and ithey tell us it's not on there so it's not included. And they want an extra $300 for them. My wife and I both vividly remember th the sales person saying they would include them. They refuse to give us the batteries and that was that. Not even an offer for meeting us half way which we would have done. Very very poor customer service. They have lost two customers that just moved I to a new home and need lots of furniture. Update: 1000% expected the answer from the owner that we got. The carbon copy of the invoice that you give to your clients is NOT clear. We never asked for them for free. We said what we wanted and explained everything yet never got the batteries. The blame is on is for not writing out the bill of sale ourselves. People, this is what you can expect. Rigidness and blame the customer. We are both tolerant and decent humans and for you to insinuate we want the batteries for free after the fact is insulting. You have lost two customers plus everyone else I share my experience with.

I would like to start by saying I am very happy with the quality of the furniture, selection and prices. I recently purchased a house in Ottawa needing to completely furnish it and purchased $10,000.00 worth of furniture to begin furnishing my home. I was shocked to get a call from the store to say they made a mistake on my bill and I they would just simply add an extra $250.00 to my account which I could pay when the furniture came in. I have no problems with people making mistakes and had I been approached in a manner of remorse for the mistake I may have paid the extra, but the salesclerk indicated that had I taken the time to look at my receipt I should have known the price was not reasonable for the product, even though she had reviewed the receipt with me in the store before I left. I would have liked the option to cancel the order on principal but because I had paid up front was told I could not. I was able to cancel the piece in question and did receive a refund a week later for that. I talked to the manager to express my feedback but he firmly stood behind his staff. I was told the furniture would take 6-8 weeks and it was nearly 10 weeks before I received it all, again would have been ok if they had told me there was the potential of 10 weeks or more. I still have quite a lot more to purchase for my new home and absolutely would NEVER purchase from here based only on the customer service I received.

1 star and ill tell you why. My first couch was bought from there 10yrs ago so thought I’d go back with my kids as their opinion matters. I mean they’re the ones going to be lounging on the couch. Opened the door and before taking a breath the old lady who’s been working there since they officially opened their doors and asked “can I help you”. We said no we are okay and started looking around. I already had in mind what couch we wanted so the kids were excited. This is the first event that triggered me, one of my kids sat up on the couch and granny chirped up and says no no no huffing and puffing can’t do that. Poor guy, I grabbed him and walked away. Then second event wife was asking about fabrics and granny says “well it’s really your prerogative and can’t choose for you”. Lady you’ve been working here since you were 16 wifey is just asking your opinion about fabrics considering there are kids etc just give a professional response and be kind. Took a card and walked out and went to Upper Room where they price match. Walked in, was given a few min to look around then was pleasantly greeted and we sealed the deal. It’s too bad, I’ve always promoted local and by local, but Valley Squire have been in the business for way too long and they’ve lost touch with their customers and how to treat people. So unless your pushing 60 I suggest you shop elsewhere.

The worst customer service ever. I have been there twice and such a disappointment. The staff is barely around and when they decide to show up they are bitter and angry and really make u want to leave. There is an older lady there that told us one thing, then changed her mind and said forget it. Totally inconvenienced us that we actually just walked out of store in disbelief . The first time I went there were 2 older men employees were verbally fighting at the cash area. It was horrible and soo disrespectful. There were a few customers there and we were all just watching in disbelief. One couple even made a comment saying I wonder how they treat their clients if they r like that with each other and walked right out of store. After about 10 min of the cursing at each other and telling each other where to go a third person finally said save it for later people r watching. I don't understand how this business is still around with such horrible customer service running it. It's too bad Bc some of the stuff there is really nice and I'm sure if the owners switched up the employees it would be a much more successful establishment.

We bought a Winners 57” pedestal table and 4 chairs with cushioned seats in June right after the lockdown. We needed a table and chairs immediately as we just moved into our condo and our old set was too big. We were happy with the sales and service initially but after 3 months we couldn’t ignore problems with the table. It creaks and feels wobbly while we are eating. The cushioned seats are no longer even and firm. They feel bumpy due to the impression from sitting on them. We are not large people. Their service rep came out and tightened the pedestal screws but they were not loose. It did not resolve the problem. We then spoke with the owner who told us all pedestal tables do this and all cushioned seats get indented. I’ve had furniture for over 10 years that did not. He offered to replace the pedestal and the two chairs we have used. But if they don’t agree what we’ve described is unusual or problematic, how does his offer solve our problem? I guess we should have bought a table with 4 legs. Anyway we didn’t expect to be unhappy with this table after 3 months. But we are.

We bought a Durham Furniture bed set through Valley Squire and had a great experience. Durham Furniture is an excellent line (Canadian made, solid wood throughout -- google it). We were able to order a custom stain through Valley Squire and chose pieces from different Durham collections. We appreciated the flexibility Valley Squire showed there. We were told to expect 6-8 weeks for delivery, but it ended up arriving within 5 weeks. White glove delivery service was included (they arrived at the house just when they said they would and set the whole thing up in less than 10 minutes - very professional, thank you Allan). We appreciated that they take only a 20% deposit, and that you pay the remainder on delivery (delivery guy has a credit/debit machine). Very smooth and painless process overall. Will update the review if there are any issues with the furniture as time goes on.

For the same price as other major retailers, you can buy custom Canadian-made solid wood furniture. Why wouldn't you shop here? I ran around town to almost all the furniture stores trying to find something I liked, but I was unwilling to spend thousands of dollars on particleboard furniture. At Valley Squire I found a floor model that I generally liked, but I was able to customize it by changing the wood from pine to maple, choosing the colour of the wood stain, and selecting the handles from several options. Bob and Mae helped me along the way and I never felt pressured. They were very knowledgeable about their products. Delivery was on time and it was a breeze. I will most definitely be buying furniture from Valley Squire in the future. They had a vast selection of couches, recliners, stools, dinner tables and much more.

Such an amazing, honest, fair priced experience! After shopping at a few big box stores, we tried Valley Squire. First thing I noticed; no one is harassing you the second you step in the door. The sales staff let you browse at peace~!! They are not on commission; so there is no stress, or pressure.Just good honest advice and information. Second thing; this place is huge! I was so shocked and happy with the selection. Something for everyone. Third; the prices. Wow- such fair prices! Such beautiful Canadian made furniture. I highly recommend going here. It is such a nice experience I will update my review once the furniture is delivered; expected in 8 weeks or less.

we bought a bedroom last year and went back yesterday to buy a dinning room set.While using their computer screen to compose the set,a sales woman approached me and my wife and asked :when will you finish?told her why? she replied because she wants to get some codes. I told her that we are composing our set and it will take 5-10 mins.Aggressively replied that we should be fast and we can use our mobile phones instead. Her behavior was so unrespectful, rude &unacceptable . I asked for the owner and the sales person name but non of the other 2 salespersons bothered to ask why. Her name is Mai and We are not going back.

We've been shopping at Valley Squire for 25+ years and keep coming back! The quality of the furniture is exceptional- all of our pieces are still in excellent condition. The expertise and knowledge of the staff was evident when we recently upgraded to a king size bed - Steve was able to help us find the best match to our existing bedroom set, thereby saving us time and energy of having to replace the whole set. He was also able to help us out in finding the ideal ottoman to match our sectional, again saving us time and frustration. Lastly, we love that most of the brands they carry are solid wood and Canadian made.

My husband and I spent over two hours deciding on what we would purchase at Valley Squire .During this time the owner, Chris Robinson, was very pleasant and attentive, without hovering. He gave us much needed information on the power recliners we were interested in. We were very pleased with his friendly professionalism and did not press us in any way to make a purchase . We left the store happy with the experience as well as the purchases. We would highly recommend this furniture store to anyone looking for quality furniture as well as knowledgeable staff.

On March 20th I went to Valley Squire in person to pick up two small end tables and three small nesting tables.They were scheduled for delivery but I knew the store was closing re: Covid that evening and I would not receive them for an unknown time. Although they were providing no delivery or set up (No set up required)they refused to remove the $80.00 charge from my bill. I was forced to pay it before my furniture was loaded in the back seat of my car. The whole experience was very negative and. Upsetting. I still feel cheated. July 7 2020

Initially had excellent customer service when purchasing four barstools. Now, having an issue with the wear of them (pilling VERY badly despite only being 4 months old), the customer service has not been good and I am left feeling like they took my money and no longer care about me as a customer. At almost $500/stool, I feel like they could have tried harder with the supplier to find a resolution I was happy with. Felt the need to share in order for others to be weary of this customer service when choosing to shop here!

My wife and I ordered furniture late in October. We were told it would arrive in time for Christmas and it did. We’re thrilled with the every step of our experience from picking our furniture to the delivery process. The sales staff were friendly, down to earth and courteous and the delivery/setup crew were professional and quick. The quality of the furniture is head and shoulders above other cheaper places the city has to offer but you get what you pay for. I highly recommend them and will be going back in the future.

I purchased my furniture (love seat and sofa ) from Valley Squire Furniture based on my brother's recommendation. The service is excellent and the quality of furniture is the best i have seen in a long time. It is totally Canadian made and the price is very reasonable. For any other furniture needs, this is the 1st place i will be visiting and i highly recommend it. I hardly buy any items without doing prior research (read , ask people etc) and i am glad i have locked onto a great place for my furniture needs.

I was hoping some of the poor reviews I read were wrong. But I found out for myself. After being in the store 40 minutes not one salesperson even gave me eye contact let alone ask me if I needed help. The female clerk walked by me when I first walked in and didn’t say hello or acknowledge me in any way. I have bought a lot of furniture from your store over the years but not anymore. Oh and when I heard the salesman bash the other behind her back that clinched it. Good luck!

We thoroughly appreciate the relaxed, no-pressure atmosphere at family-run Valley Squire. We also appreciate the quality furniture they sell and the ability to buy Canadian. They recently intervened for us with a manufacturer and found a solution that worked for everyone. We ordered a chair for my wives mother age 90 from Valley Squire in June and after numerous excuses it was finely delivered last week Oct 31st. We were told it would be 6 weeks not 5 months. I suspect the first delay was they forgot to order it. We got excuses from it coming in the next shipment to the factory has problems. We asked for a discount and were refused. I will be filling a complaint with the BBB. Be careful

Just got to the parking lot and just from there they were so unprofessional, not sure if it was the owner or the employee, but he got out the store and yelled at us saying we need to be respectful of his "customers " when we were in a empty parking lot having a conversation before going in the store. He was very racist and wouldn't go back in the store until we left " basically kicking us out the parking lot.

Recently purchased a solid pine bedroom set and was very pleased with quality, professional service, and pricing. I have compared quality and prices at other major retailers and became frustrated with the poor quality of some of their furniture. My experience at Valley Squire has been very positive yet at times challenging as they have so many nice pieces of furniture that choosing is sometimes difficult.

Went shopping for couches and was pleasantly surprised at the size of the store and the very good prices they had on Canadian made furniture Sales staff was great to deal with and bought 2 couches with an expected delivery date of May or June. The couches came in on 16March and were delivered once we returned from holidays on 16April. Good service and good prices.

Purchased a Superstyle sofa recently and love it! Steve was very knowledgeable about the product, polite, responded to phone call in a timely manner, and a pleasure to deal with. This company doesn’t value the customers needs or happiness. They refused to take the recliners back after being very dissatisfied with them and offered no help to contact the manufacturer for a return. They aren’t friendly after you buy with them. Go somewhere else where you’ll get treated like a real customer when you’re going to spend your hard earned money.

I came to the store after few days of the delivery of the sofa and the love seat, I was told that only the owner can accept to return items and he's not there in that time. I understand that it's a floor model. In my previous review I mentioned that I did not LIKE the way you spoke to me as a client, that's why I DO NOT recommend your store to any one.

We love the shopping experience at Valley Squire. The staff are friendly and helpful. They don't work on commission, so it really makes it pleasant to shop for furniture. Nearly all the furniture is Canadian made, and of excellent quality. We have bought a few pieces from Valley Squire and are really happy with everything.

Good, local furniture store with good selection and friendly staff. Bought some Palliser sofas from them and they went through all of our options, from cheapest to most expensive. All other stores just quoted us for the top of the line leather and didn't even mention that there were options to lower the price.

We were initially happy with the purchase of our leather craft sofa and love seat. However when we had a problem with some quality issues both Valley Squire and leather craft both let us down. My wife actually refused to let Valley Squires rep back in our house after his visit. Do not expect any help.

Wow! You want poor customer service? Then shop at this place! Poor product knowledge (salesman needs a day to get back to us) to just poor salesmanship left us walking out of their store shaking our heads. Save your time and go somewhere professional. If I could leave them zero stars I would.

Decent products; not really unique though. Terrible owner. Chris, sell your business or shut it down. I had another 10k+ worth of things to spend in your store but after what happened, I will stay away like plague. There are other great furniture stores in the city, with good owners.

Had an awful experience buying furniture here, the owner has especially poor customer service and is very rude and cold. May care about you as a customer until you purchase something, but after they have your money they will not offer any assistance or answer any of your questions.
