I recently went to RBC Bridgwater to ask about opening a business account. I asked the teller what the requirements were, and she didn’t know, so her colleague came by to help. What got me is that he looked it up on his phone, scrolled through the requirements - then asked if I was a PR. I look puzzled, and he asked by defining what a PR was (which I already knew), and said “are you a PR - Permanent Resident?” And I was baffled. I said “no I’m a Canadian citizen and I’ve lived here for over 25 years!” And he went on like what he said wasn’t offensive. Like it was normal. If I wasn’t a person of colour, he wouldn’t even ask me that. It’s striking because he was also Asian. If there are additional requirements for PRs to open a business account, that’s ok. What’s not ok is that I was stereotyped and the tellers acted like it was totally ok and normal to do that. What would have been appropriate was to direct me to the link, or better yet, print out a copy of the requirements other than ASSUMING I was a permanent resident because of the colour of my skin. I called in to leave this feedback and wanted to speak to the manager. I spoke to an assistant manager who was making excuses for what happened and didn’t take ownership of the issue or provide an actual apology. The manager called me back over a week later, and left me a message but didn’t bother to leave their extension number. I’ve now wasted 40 mins of my day trying to get a hold of the manager, but the number provided on google goes to customer service agents not even from this location. This is the most frustrating experience I’ve ever had with a bank. I’m beyond disappointed and disgusted with this service and poor practice of the staff.
I would give this branch 0 stars if I could. You’d think that a branch in this location would have well trained and professional employees considering the area and the type of people that are around it. Our business is right across the street from this branch which is why we go to this branch very often to withdraw cash for our till. None of the employees were helpful and were very discriminatory telling us that they “weren’t” able to withdraw the money for us for their own reasons that made absolutely no sense at all. We can on November 15th at 2:30 pm and a Caucasian gentleman with brunette hair was the first to assist us who already decided to judge us and did not care to understand what we were trying to tell him and he did not even try to help. Another man helped us, wearing a suit who is also a dark skin man with no hair, right off the bat was giving us discriminatory vibes just because we were dressed in our casual attire as it was our day off. He didn’t care to help us, nor look into the matter any deeper and just say that he couldn’t give us our request. We’ve been going to this location every week to withdraw our money regardless of the “issues” that they are telling us yet this man was absolutely no help, and also was incredibly rude. Not only that, one of the men said that they’ve “identified” us. So you mean to tell me that we looked that sketchy for you to have to look if we’re fraud? UNBELIEVABLE. You need to hire better employees and educate your employees on different matters aside from your average persons banking. Maybe you need to have your employees take some type of course with how to handle business accounts. If you own a business, do not work with this branch.
After applying for a line of credit Adeline Degner (the RBC advisor) never got back to me. I followed up with her multiple times by phone and e-mail and never received a reply. It has been nearly 2 weeks of me asking if she needs any other documentation or if she had a result from the application. At one point I visited the branch for some clarification on documents she requested from me. Then she started asking me questions about my personal and confidential credit history in the middle of the main lobby. She didn't pull me aside or use an office so anyone could overhear what should have been confidential. I also called RBC and it is nearly impossible to speak with a person without the virtual attendant hanging up on you. When I finally got a rep on the phone I asked to speak with a manager and they wouldn't even give me a phone number for the branch manager. The rep mentioned they left a message with Anita D'Ottavio (branch manager) and Derek Young (assistant branch manager) to call me back. It has only been a few business hours but I have not received a return phone call. I will update when/if I ever receive one. I waited an excessive amount of time before leaving a bad review and was not going to post one if a branch manager would have returned my call in a timely manner. Internally, I gave RBC lots of time and chances to avoid a poor review but not even the very least of my expectations were met, not even enough for a 1 star rating. This branch does not have employees that care about your time or finances. Not too relevant but I did find other approvals, and much better service, from other banks.
Very poor customer service in this branch, I was there trying to open a account, and no one knows anything,. I try call to get a appointment and no ones answer the phone, I ask the teller for the documents I need, and she didn't know, so another person help her but she was very not friendly poor customer service, she ask me for my PR or Visa never mention my nationality so call to speak with the manager and report the situation, she was not available several times, so I got a "assistant manager" she was even worst excuses and excuses not taking responsibility, she basically told me to take my business to other bank if that was my choice... can you believe that!!! very very frustrating experience on this bank, beyond disappointed and concern of the lack of everything.... The Manager never call back, the tellers don't have a clue, and the AM well she basically didn't care at all.... So just open a account in the bank around the corner, had a free coffee, spoke with the Manager about my experience and i got her direct line she mention this happens all the time, and they always get angry customer, i will post her info if anyone needs to open a account just call her
This bank is the worst. Go to Scotiabank in Bridgwater or Steinbach credit for higher interest on your savings. Rbc puts a hold on all funds, cheques, electronic transfers and RBC to RBC deposits if you want to make a transfer the same day with the teller. But yeah you can still make an e-transfer with those funds.. don't understand that logic. Bad for business There is only one teller working and she's got attitude . Was last at this branch July 26 2023
Poor customer service. Haven’t heard anything back from Adeline Degner regarding our last appointment, absolutely no follow-up on agreed-upon arrangements - ie. forms and requirements for line of credit that were supposed to be emailed to me so I could get said line of credit after she had done a hard credit check on me. After reading the other reviews I’m shocked that it’s an ongoing problem here. They’re supposed to support and advise you.
Adeline was very very rude with a customer that was in the bank today, she denied service and then ask a bunch of nonsense questions... They guy try to defend himself and some how he managed to make her understand, I am a regular and this branch has very poor customer service for the area and location, we need better customer care
This must be the slowest branch I’ve ever been to. I went there on Saturday, a very slow morning, two people in front of me. I have waited 20 minutes to be called by the only teller working that day and still haven’t been served. I had to leave without completing my business as I was late for another appointment. Waist of time!
Nice management, but staff are not knowledgeable. Not serious. They will waste your time; at least the lady I had to deal with [more than two weeks, still wasn't sure what was status of the application]. Regretted not going to the other branch at first place.
Assistant branch manager Derek Young will lie to you and give you false information. When caught he will get angry and defensive. This branch is shady and only care about their bottom line. Take your business to another location. Save yourself the run around
Terrible service here. The staff has no idea what they’re doing. Wasted a whole month of our time. Ignoring phone calls and bouncing us around. Definitely would recommend going somewhere else. Who ever is running that place is an absolute fool.
Best ever experience in this branch. Everyone is very friendly. I got treated extremely great. I just love the experience with Jasmeen and Corey. Along with my concern, they help me other things related to my account. Just awesome …
Trying to speak to a human and can't get through, all i get is the virtual assistant which won't answer my simple question and does not allow me to speak to a person,,, HATE IT!!!!!! been an RBC client for 40 years!!!
An excellent local branch. Great customer care provided by extremely helpful and polite staff onsite. Comfortable waiting area. Suitable working hours, including late in the evening few days a week, and Saturdays.
Terrible service. Staff is thinking that they are getting business by default so they need not take care of customers. They never get back to you on your applications and taking customers for granted. Pathetic.
Waste your time. You make an apt and nobody acknowledges you when u walk in. You have to sit and wait for how long? Why bother banking at big banks.
Multiple calls and emails going unanswered with the business advisor over the course of a few weeks. Leaves business customers in a tough spot.
A lovely experience. I was made to feel very comfortable by a professional and experienced advisor. Thankful for a last minute accomodation.
I have always had a great experience at this location. Tellers and management are able to help me with all of my banking needs.
The staff here is incredibly rude and judgemental. I’ve often had a very bad experience with the tellers.
Horrible service! Tellers are not educated people shouldnt be working in a bank.
super slow service and poor advice provided. Moral degrading interior.
Useless people, don’t know what they are doing.
Just excellent!
Love it!
